We were lucky to catch up with Belinda Ortega recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Belinda, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem through the difficult life lessons I’ve overcome. I believe the challenges we face are not mistakes, but valuable lessons that shape us. Reflecting on what I’ve been through has shown me my own strength, and that realization has given me the courage to face new challenges with confidence.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the proud owner of Imprinted by B, a facial spa. My journey began at a young age, starting with doing makeup for girls in high school for dances and special events. After high school, I became a cosmetics consultant at Lancôme, where I discovered my passion for helping clients achieve their skin goals on a deeper level.
That experience inspired me to become a licensed esthetician. Though I explored other jobs along the way, I always found myself returning to my first love — skincare and helping others feel confident in their own skin.
I truly enjoy what I do because it allows me to connect with people. Our skin is deeply personal, and when clients trust me with theirs, it creates a bond that goes beyond the surface. That’s why I named my spa Imprinted by B — because we imprint on each other, whether we realize it or not.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Authenticity
Communication
Boundaries
Authenticity allowed me to truly see who I was — not just externally, but internally. It helped me discover the real me beyond material things or the people I surrounded myself with. It was about finding my true identity, the version of me without the labels or outside influences.
Communication is one of the most important qualities. You have to clearly express your vision, values, and boundaries — what you’re willing to take risks on and what you absolutely won’t compromise.
Boundaries have also been a huge part of my growth. Being able to articulate what’s over the line and stand by it is essential, even if it means creating distance from family, friends, or romantic partners. You have to be willing to stand your ground in what you believe and not waver.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Trusting myself has been one of the most impactful lessons. Growing up in a strong, women-dominated family, many of my decisions were guided or approved before I even made them. Because of that, I struggled to fully trust my own judgment. Over time, I’ve learned that building self-trust means allowing myself to make choices confidently — and giving myself permission to change course when it feels right.
