We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Todd Hostetler. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Todd below.
Todd, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I built it. After years of chasing new opportunities, working with startups, and occasionally learning the hard way, I started to see how much perspective shapes reality. Negative thinking made everything smaller and heavier. So I began working harder and being more conscious of my mental health, learning how to think better so I could see better. That quiet confidence I carry now comes from practice, from choosing to see what’s possible instead of what went wrong.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I make beats under the name Saucier Todd. For me, music has always been about connection. It’s given me space to feel seen, heard, and understood in ways that words alone couldn’t. I don’t try to force anything when I’m creating. If it connects with someone, that’s great. If it doesn’t, that’s okay too. There’s music out there that might speak to them better, and that’s what they should listen to. For me, it’s about expression and honesty. Every beat carries a little of both (and you can find them on YouTube if you ever want to hear what that sounds like).

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Discipline, perseverance, and trust have shaped just about everything for me. None of them came easy. Discipline was built through routine and repetition, showing up on the days I didn’t feel like it. Perseverance came from navigating creative setbacks, career pivots, and those personal moments that test who you are. Trust has probably been the hardest and most rewarding to learn. It means trusting yourself, trusting the process, and trusting others enough to let them in. I’ve realized you can’t control everything, but you can control how you respond. That perspective is what has really been key in helping me grow continuously.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always open to collaborating with artists, producers, vocalists, or even brands that want to have some fun. Music should feel good to make. It should be fun or freeing, not another pressure point in life. I’m not interested in chasing some “big break.” I’m interested in working with people who want to build something that means something to them.
