Meet Michael Abraham

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michael Abraham a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Resilience came from the lived experience of building something lasting in a dynamic and often unpredictable market like Los Angeles. In real estate, change is constant: lending shifts, buyer psychology evolves, and timelines stretch. I’ve learned to embrace that uncertainty, not resist it. Each challenge, whether it’s a delayed closing, a surprise foundation report, or a pivoting strategy mid-deal, has made me sharper, calmer, and more solutions-oriented. I don’t just endure challenges; I plan for them.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m Michael Abraham, co-founder of AMRE Real Estate Group, where I lead with a background in architecture, a sharp eye for design, and a data-driven approach to real estate strategy. AMRE was born from a desire to raise the bar in Los Angeles real estate by offering clients more than just transactional support. We built a boutique, high-touch advisory model that blends market expertise with creativity and clarity.

At AMRE, we specialize in multifamily investments, strategic residential sales, and thoughtfully curated buying experiences. What makes our work so exciting is that it’s never just about a property—it’s about positioning our clients to make smart, long-term moves that align with both their lifestyle and financial goals. We’re hands-on with everything from analyzing cap rates on fourplexes to staging architectural homes with cinematic marketing. I think what sets us apart is our ability to combine visionary thinking with grounded execution.

One thing I’m especially proud of is how we approach first-time buyers. We understand how overwhelming that first purchase can feel, especially in a city like LA. Our team is committed to educating and empowering clients through every step—not just handing them keys, but helping them understand how to build real estate into their future wealth strategy.
Right now, we’re in an exciting phase of expansion. We’ve recently enhanced our services around value-add investment consulting and digital property marketing, integrating more tools for data visualization and portfolio planning. We’re also in early talks to launch educational content that demystifies the real estate process, which has been a passion project of mine for years.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three Most Important Qualities, Skills, and Areas of Knowledge

1. Strategic Thinking
Real estate isn’t just about location. It’s about vision and timing. Whether I’m advising a first-time buyer or a seasoned investor, I approach every decision through a strategic lens. That means understanding market dynamics, anticipating challenges, and designing pathways to long-term value. My background in architecture helps me see what a property could be, not just what it is today.

2. Communication and Client Education
Clear, consistent communication is the cornerstone of trust. I make it a priority to ensure every client feels informed, supported, and empowered with no jargon and no guesswork. Especially in high-stakes or high-emotion moments, the ability to explain options and make people feel heard can completely shift a transaction. That’s where I bring calm, clarity, and transparency to the table.

3. Market and Investment Knowledge
In LA’s fast-moving and layered market, surface knowledge isn’t enough. I invest heavily in staying current on local trends, zoning, lending shifts, and value-add strategies because informed guidance leads to better outcomes. I also draw from personal experience in multifamily investment and renovations, which means I’m advising from real-world insight, not theory.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I’ve been fortunate to learn from several people over the years, but one of the most influential has been my business partner and AMRE co-founder, Ania De Pourbaix. Her experience, eye for design, and unshakable work ethic set a high bar from day one. Working alongside her helped me sharpen not only my aesthetic sensibilities but also my approach to client care, negotiation, and long-term strategy.

She has a way of approaching challenges with clarity and resilience that has influenced how I lead, make decisions, and build relationships. When you’re growing a business in a fast-paced market, having someone who both challenges and supports your growth is invaluable.

I also owe a great deal to my early mentors in architecture and real estate who taught me to think critically, stay curious, and never rush the foundation, whether you’re building a home or a business.
