Meet Nannette Foster

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nannette Foster. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nannette below.

Hi Nannette, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.

Did you know that only 1-3% of books that are started are actually finished? I was nearly one of those statistics. As a highly intuitive artist, I tend to create from waves of inspiration. This works beautifully when designing jewelry or writing a blog post, but when I decided to write a book, I found the prospect of finishing a manuscript daunting.

For two years, I put it off. I was plagued by the fear that I wouldn’t finish. What if I lost interest or motivation? What if no one read my book? What if I just didn’t have what it takes to be an author?

I knew from experience that without a regular writing rhythm, I’d lose momentum. But forcing myself into a rigid daily routine was a sure recipe for burnout—and writer’s block. I was at an impasse.

Everything changed when I began studying the very wave I’d always ridden when creating. In psychological terms, Flow State is a neurological state of consciousness—that moment of full immersion in an activity, where everything else fades, you have pinpoint focus, and one movement connects to another with seamless fluidity. I had been writing in what artists and creatives aptly describe as “Creative Flow.” To my delight, I learned that this state can be intentionally cultivated.

With the help of a few simple prompts and rituals, I established a writing rhythm that carried me all the way to completion. My book, Intuitive By Design, was released earlier this year as a bestseller! I still do a happy dance when I consider what I overcame to see this book become a reality. Along the way, I also discovered a passion for helping emerging authors find their own rhythm and flow—so they, too, can bless the world with the message they carry.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an Intuitive Leadership Coach, author of Intuitive By Design, and creator of the Intuitive Flow method. Notice a theme? My primary message clearly centers around intuition, so it may come as a surprise that wasn’t always the case.

Once upon a time, I didn’t even use the word “intuition” for fear I would dishonor my faith. While I now view intuition as a key faculty of the human design, it is often misunderstood or even a controversial topic in Western Christianity. For me—and for many others—ignoring that inner knowing led to self-doubt, confusion, and fear-based decision-making.

The same dynamic often appears in leadership and business, where logic is prized and intuition is dismissed. However, as science increasingly supports the role of intuitive processing and high-profile leaders like Oprah Winfrey affirm its value, the conversation is shifting. Even the great Albert Einstein said, “I believe in intuition and inspiration… At times I feel certain I am right without knowing the reason.”

Today, I help leaders, creators, and messengers activate their unique intuition blueprint so they can move with clarity, confidence, and divine flow. Through individual coaching, immersive retreats, and soon, a group coaching program, I guide clients in cultivating an effortless intuitive partnership.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

In addition to intuition and the Flow State, one of the most powerful practices I use and recommend is mindset renewal. I’m intentionally retraining my brain to think in alignment with my dreams, desires, and divinely designed identity. You might hear this called “mindset work,” but at its core, it’s about recognizing limiting beliefs and unhelpful narratives—and exchanging them for greater Truth. For Christ-followers, this aligns with what Scripture calls the “renewing of the mind” (Romans 12:2).

I’ve also learned that a renewed mind and a healed heart go hand-in-hand. True transformation happens when we address both. That’s why I encourage anyone on this journey to engage in heart-healing work alongside mindset growth, especially when past trauma or emotional wounds are present. Healing restores our capacity to discern clearly, trust our inner wisdom, and move forward in freedom, confidence, and flow.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Highly intuitive people are often characterized by heightened sensitivity, empathy, energetic awareness, and even spiritual encounters—what I refer to as Intuitive S.E.E.S. Traits. For myself and many of my clients, this means the tendency to feel overwhelmed can be higher than average. The same can be true for other forms of neurodivergence, including autism, ADHD, and those who identify as empaths, HSPs (highly sensitive people), or highly gifted.

One powerful shift I’ve made is removing the phrase “I am overwhelmed” from my vocabulary. Not because I’m in denial—overwhelm still knocks at my door—but because I’ve learned to see it for what it really is: overstimulation or overload. This simple reframe allows me to respond with self-compassion instead of frustration.

Because my sensory and emotional receptors are heightened, I need more rest, quiet, and processing time than most people. I’ve learned to honor that need rather than fight it. Rest, self-care rituals, and soaking in nature have become essential rhythms for preventing and regulating feelings of overwhelm. This creates sacred space for clarity, creativity, and connection, opening flow once again.
