We recently connected with Lena Drake and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lena, really appreciate your meeting with us today to talk about some particularly personal topics. It means a lot because so many in the community are going through circumstances where your insights and experience and lessons might help, so thank you so much in advance for sharing. The first question we have is about divorce and how you overcame divorce and didn’t allow the trauma of divorce to derail your vision for your life and career.
Filed the paperwork. Spring cleaning is not only applicable to housework. Sometimes you have to take a good long look in the mirror and say, “Oops.” There’s always a way to improve your situation. Listen to your body, stop justifying unhealthy behavior, and save yourself—you are the cavalry.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an actor and writer who dances and comedies when the time is right. Luckily, in NYC, the time is always right. Theatre and filmmaking are the huge and amazing projects I look forward to, but it’s the dance and comedy that helps me process the day to day happenings of life. I work in the indie film scene and on off-broadway, but you can find my daily dance and comedy on IG: @Lena_Drake

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I attended the University of Michigan where I earned my BFA: Theatre and went on to study scriptwriting at Oxford University. These institutions helped me build a foundation of storytelling, however the most I’ve learned has not come from school but from the series of unfortunate events that has been much of my life. And, there’s something inherently funny about that; it’s where all the creativity comes from.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am on the search for Greek filmmakers! I have a number of projects that would shoot in both Greece and the U.S. and I need collaborators experienced with both countries: producers, directors, writers, and actors. If you love odd, honest, darkly funny films–hit me up. Let’s make something wild together.
