Meet Marika Simon

We were lucky to catch up with Marika Simon recently and have shared our conversation below.

Marika, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by constantly surrounding myself with stories — whether that’s through travel, music, or exploring the unknown. I find inspiration in places with history and energy; every location has a story waiting to be told if you’re open to feeling it. Music also plays a big role in how I create — it helps me tap into emotion and imagination. And honestly, I think curiosity is the key. The more I explore, the more ideas come to life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m an actress, paranormal investigator, and storyteller with a deep love for exploring the spaces where reality meets the unexplained. My work allows me to merge my passion for performance with my fascination for the mysterious side of life. I co-star in Repossessed, a docuseries that follows our team as we uncover the stories behind haunted objects and the people connected to them. What excites me most about this work is how it combines emotion, history, and human experience — it’s not just about the paranormal, it’s about the people and the energy that lingers around them.

Creatively, I’m drawn to projects that challenge perspective — whether that’s through acting, storytelling, or content that explores the unseen. I also find a lot of inspiration in travel and music; they help me stay grounded and connected to the world while fueling my imagination.

Right now, I’m continuing to develop projects that bridge storytelling, spirituality, and the supernatural — both on screen and behind the scenes. Repossessed is streaming internationally on Hulu, Netflix, StackTV, and the History Channel Canada, and it’s been incredible to see how audiences everywhere connect with it. For me, it’s just the beginning of a journey that celebrates curiosity, connection, and the unseen forces that shape our stories.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that have shaped my journey the most are curiosity, empathy, and resilience.

Curiosity has always been my driving force. It keeps me exploring new stories, diving into unknown places, and asking questions that others might overlook. Whether it’s through acting or investigating the paranormal, curiosity pushes me to see beyond the surface.

Empathy is what gives depth to everything I do. In both storytelling and the supernatural world, you’re often dealing with emotion, memory, and human energy. Being able to listen, connect, and feel what others have experienced adds truth and vulnerability to my work.

And resilience — that’s the quiet strength behind it all. This industry can be unpredictable, and there are times when you question yourself or your path. But staying grounded, adapting to change, and continuing to move forward, even when it’s hard, builds character and confidence.

For anyone at the beginning of their journey, my advice is simple: stay curious, stay open, and trust your timing. Growth doesn’t always happen in a straight line — but every experience, even the difficult ones, becomes part of your story.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I think it’s important to lead with your strengths, but never stop growing. Your natural strengths are where your passion and authenticity live — that’s what sets you apart. But the reality is, every project, role, or experience will ask something new of you, and that’s where developing other skills becomes essential.

For me, acting and storytelling came naturally, but working in the paranormal world required a completely different kind of awareness. I had to learn how to read energy, research history, and communicate in emotionally charged environments — all while staying grounded and professional on camera. Those weren’t things I mastered right away; they came with time, mistakes, and curiosity.

So I’d say: go all in on your strengths because that’s where your confidence and purpose come from — but don’t be afraid to step outside of them. Growth often happens in the uncomfortable spaces. Every time I’ve challenged myself to do something unfamiliar, I’ve discovered a new layer of creativity and self-trust.
