We recently connected with Dr. Natasha Ward and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Natasha, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
I’ve been the only one in the room since second grade. I was tested for the “Gifted” program, and once I was placed, none of my classmates looked like me from that point on. I still remember those moments: walking the fine line between knowing who I was and why I was there, and testing assimilation to see if it fit. It never did.
As I grew older and found myself in boardrooms, classrooms, travel experiences, and spiritual spaces where I was still the “only one,” I realized that I might never stop noticing it, but I could learn to leverage it. Over time, a few lessons emerged:
First, I’ve learned to honor the humanness in everyone, including myself. Instead of silencing myself, assimilating, or overcompensating, I show up authentically as my full self. Some may not like it, but others quietly wish they could do the same.
Second, being the only one in the room usually means you bring something unique—experience, perspective, resilience, or connection. You’re not there by accident, so your job is to show up fully and not shrink.
And my favorite lesson: when I am the only one in the room, I make it my mission to bring someone else in who looks like me. There’s room for everyone to shine, and not everyone gets the same opportunities. If I can open a door for someone else, the room becomes brighter and better for everyone.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I always say, “The problem the world has is a heart problem.” We numb the heart in so many ways, and eventually, that disconnection manifests in our lives — even physically. So, I created a sacred space that helps women return to the beginning— to the heart — so they can live in their birthright of joy, peace, and alignment.
I’m the founder of Natasha Inspires, a heart-centered space that’s devoted to helping women nurture their emotional and spiritual well-being so they can live fully aligned, vibrant lives. My work guides women beyond healing into expansion — helping them reconnect with their truth, release what no longer serves them, and step into what truly makes them come alive.
Through my monthly Thriving Asynchronous Coaching, I support women in sustaining their growth with ease and intention. I also write Untamed Living, a personal Substack exploring surrender, flow, and life as a living ceremony — the deeper rhythms of my becoming. I’m super excited about preparing to release my signature course, Flourishing Untamed—an eight-week journey that guides women to return home to their hearts and flourish in grounded freedom and divine overflow. Ultimately, my mission is simple: to remind women that peace, presence, and joy are not negotiable; they are their birthright.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, curiosity/life-long learner, and surrender.
Resilience has allowed me to navigate challenges and keep showing up — whether I’ve been the only one in the room, faced overwhelming situations, or been healing from a brain injury. It keeps you going so you can bounce back stronger and better. Curiosity and a life-long love of learning have helped me adapt, grow, and uncover new tools and perspectives that continue to expand both my personal and professional life. There is always something to learn from anyone and everything. And finally, surrender, which sometimes is coupled with faith, is the ability to release control, trust the process, and flow with life’s rhythms. It has been key in allowing opportunities, growth, and deeper alignment to emerge naturally for me… all in the right timing.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate these qualities intentionally: embrace challenges as growth opportunities to move forward; keep asking questions, seeking knowledge, and leaning in; and practice letting go of what you cannot control. Once you’ve done your best, the rest is up to life and living. Most importantly, support yourself along the way with self-care, positive self-talk, and reflection because personal growth and resilience thrive in the space you create for yourself. Your home is inside of you.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is a woman who has already done meaningful healing work and is now ready to sustain her growth with intention and ease. She’s seeking a life that feels fully aligned, vibrant, and expansive, and she’s open to guidance that helps her stay grounded while stepping into her next level of personal and spiritual expansion.
She values clarity, energy alignment, and intentional living, and she’s ready to release what no longer serves her, so she can live from her heart. She’s curious, committed, and ready to take ownership of her growth, but she also wants support and encouragement that allows her to thrive without burnout or feeling overwhelmed — the type of growth offered in my Thriving Asynchronous Coaching, which helps women stay anchored in peace and joy while expanding into their next level of overflow.
In short, my ideal client is ready to move from thriving to overflowing, fully embracing her potential, her purpose, and the joy that comes from living an untamed, soul-led life.
