We recently connected with Senita M. Hill and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Senita M. with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic was shaped by my grandparents and the entrepreneurial neighborhood in which I was raised

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As Founder and CEO of SMH Consulting, I help leaders and organizations move from confusion to clarity through strategy, systems, and storytelling. My consulting firm provides leadership training, executive coaching, and organizational development anchored in The RECLAIM Method — a seven-step framework designed to turn challenges into opportunities and vision into measurable results.
RECLAIM stands for Research, Engage, Communicate, Listen, Apply, Integrate, and Mentor. It is more than a model; it’s a philosophy of leadership grounded in reflection, action, and mentorship. Each step helps individuals and teams transform uncertainty into confidence, complexity into structure, and leadership into legacy.
This season marks an exciting milestone — the upcoming launch of the RECLAIM Leadership Workbook, a guided tool designed to help leaders and individuals move from confusion to clarity using the RECLAIM Method.
The workbook offers reflection prompts, exercises, and leadership tools that bring the RECLAIM principles to life — bridging theory and practice to create actionable, lasting change.
As the Founder and CEO of Peace on Patuxent (POPi), I also lead a nonprofit respite home dedicated to women diagnosed with life-leveling cancers. POPi provides a sanctuary where women can rest, decompress, and recalibrate devoid of expectations and demands while affirming that “She Matters.”
Through SMH Consulting and The RECLAIM Method, I bring lessons learned from leading POPi into the professional world — creating a powerful synergy between leadership and compassion. We’re expanding POPi’s reach through new partnerships and our signature event, the High Noon Tea, which brings together advocates and supporters to fund the sanctuary work that makes POPi possible.
And through my participation in Dr. Pam Perry’s Speak Sell Shine platform, I’ve been able to amplify this message on larger stages — showing how leadership, healing, and purpose intersect.
Whether a retreat, a workshop, or a keynote flows from one interconnected mission: to help others lead, live, and serve with clarity, compassion, and courage. SMH Consulting is the Movement — a platform that equips leaders and organizations to step into purpose, power, and progress. The RECLAIM Method is the Framework — a practical system that transforms confusion into clarity through action, reflection, and mentorship. POPi is the Heart — the sanctuary where the work began, and where women can rest, decompress, and recalibrate devoid of expectations and demands while affirming that “She Matters.”
Together, they form a continuous cycle of impact: the Movement builds leaders, the Method guides transformation, and the Heart reminds us why it all matters.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking Back: Three Qualities That Shaped My Journey
When I reflect on my journey—from leading within federal systems to creating Peace on Patuxent (POPi) and launching SMH Consulting—three qualities stand out as the most transformative: Resilience, Clarity, and Compassionate Leadership.
1. Resilience – The Power to Keep Building Through Uncertainty
Resilience taught me to keep showing up, even when the path ahead was unclear. Founding a nonprofit, managing programs, and guiding leaders all involve seasons of uncertainty. True resilience isn’t about never falling—it’s about rising with purpose, again and again
.
Advice: Strengthen your resilience through daily grounding rituals—prayer, journaling, reflection, or mentorship. Seek feedback, not validation. Remember that your “why” will always be stronger than any “how.”
2. Clarity – Knowing What You Stand For and Where You’re Going
Clarity has been my compass in every major decision. It’s what inspired The RECLAIM Method and SMH Consulting—tools designed to help others move from confusion to clarity in their lives and leadership.
Advice: Clarity begins in stillness. Pause regularly to assess what truly aligns with your values. Create a simple vision map: what you do, who you serve, and why it matters. When you can name it, you can lead it.
3. Compassionate Leadership – Leading with Heart, Not Just Titles
My work at Peace on Patuxent reminds me daily that leadership without compassion is incomplete. The ability to listen, nurture, and serve transforms leadership from a role into a legacy.
Advice: Practice empathy as a strength, not just a soft skill. Check in with people before checking off tasks. Build trust
through transparency, and remember that leadership is less about authority and more about accountability to others.
Final Reflection
Resilience, Clarity, and Compassion form the thread connecting my life’s work. They are the essence of RECLAIM: learning, leading, and living with purpose. Wherever you are in your journey, begin with clarity, stay anchored in compassion, and let resilience carry you through.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Collaboration is at the core of everything I do. I believe that real impact happens when visionaries, organizations, and changemakers come together with shared purpose and complementary strengths.
Through SMH Consulting, I’m seeking to collaborate with:
• Leaders and organizations ready to move from intention to implementation; those who want to strengthen their leadership culture, build clarity into their strategy, and lead with purpose.
• Colleges, universities, and professional programs interested in integrating leadership development, mentoring, and wellness into their curriculum.
• Corporations and government agencies seeking leadership training, keynote speakers, or workshops rooted in the RECLAIM Method — Research, Engage, Communicate, Listen, Apply, Integrate, and Mentor.
Through Peace on Patuxent (POPi), I’m also open to collaborations with:
• Health professionals, wellness advocates, and all who support holistic healing, especially those aligned with the vision of helping women rest, decompress, and recalibrate devoid of expectations and demands while affirming that “She Matters.”
• Event partners and sponsors who wish to uplift women battling life-leveling cancers through POPi’s day retreats, overnight respite, and our signature High Noon Tea fundraiser.
At the intersection of both ventures lies a shared goal: to create spaces where women and leaders can pause, refocus, and move from confusion to clarity. I’d love to connect with individuals and organizations who are passionate about purposeful leadership, women’s wellness, and community impact.
