We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexah Gomez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alexah, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
Everyone would love to be a fully functioning machine all the time. But the truth is, that’s an impossible reality and we all have our days. Taking time for myself when I start to feel the creative drive dwindle, helps me stay on track instead of burning out and improves my overall work quality. I do multiple things every month that help me feel put together and ready to work; let’s talk about it. While so many things go on behind the scenes, to highlight a few I go to church weekly, keep my nails done, get regular massages, go to the gym regularly and try to make room to be in nature whenever I need it. These things might sound silly to some of you but working these things into my month without fail keeps me efficient and creative.
One who neglects their self-care might meet you and potentially project unsettled emotions on a client simply coming in for a service. Ensuring that I am in a good space to offer quality services and a positive experience for people coming in to see me is non-negotiable. To keep myself in this mentality all the times I have clients throughout the week I must work in my self-care additions. If I’m drained at the end of the week and I’ve done nothing for myself the odds of you coming in to a lower energy version of me is going to be higher. Because the emotions I’m projecting reflect the week I’ve just had rather than if I work in a self-care activity or two earlier in the day or the day before. I reset, remind myself of my goals, take time for gratitude and refill my own cup each time I choose to do a self-care activity.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Alexah Gomez. I’m 23 and Ive been the sole founder and operator of AlexahIcedYou Toothgems, Teeth Whitening, and Grillz since I was 19 years old. I initially started this business while working two minimum wage jobs at the same time. From 8 AM to 9:30 PM for five days a week I was hustling. I was trying to get as many hours as possible while also trying to gain knowledge on doing something bigger for myself. I was never a fan of working under someone else or experiencing anyone’s superiority complex. Once I realized how common this was in the workforce, I knew that I had to start making real moves towards opening my own business. In 2022, I began offering services to close friends and family, gaining content for my Instagram page and preparing to offer services to the public. Fast forward to October 2025 God has completely transformed my business into a fully functioning, successful, thriving reality. I went from daydreaming about this being real to it being what I wake up to every single morning.
I began with offering free services to those who would graciously put their trust in me. Now I see full schedules, booked out months, returning clients, new clients, events far and wide, and so much more. Looking back to 2022 I only offered Toothgem services and shortly after added Teeth Whitening into the mix. Recently, I’ve been blessed to add solid gold Grillz onto my service list and am preparing to open a website with products, accessories, merch, education, etc. Watching AlexahIcedYou grow from a dream into something so special that I get to live every day leaves me speechless.
AlexahIcedYou is gaining online and in person recognition daily. I am overwhelmed with gratitude and so blessed to share a couple VIP clients, connections I’ve made, & events that I have done so far!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When deciding to take the first step and start your own business, Change parts of your life, or begin any journey, there are a couple qualities that can make or break your success. For anyone who is just starting out hasn’t started or is thinking of starting one day these are some tips for you.
Number one, good things come fast while great things take time. Remember to stick to your course, remind yourself why you started and keep your eye on your goal. In the beginning of my journey I let comparison steal a lot of of my joy, intricately comparing myself to other people‘s journey did not do me any good. Instead of overthinking the good things that happen for other people we think might not deserve it, focus on the great things manifesting for YOUR life. It is difficult enough and time consuming enough to focus only on yourself. Do not concern yourself with what anyone else has going on. Stay in your lane and focus on the dreams you have set ahead of yourself. This will serve you a lot better in the short and long run.
Number two, trial and error are about to become your best friend. Do not be afraid of the things you don’t know yet or of the things you have no experience in. The only way to do something new is to attempt something you have not done before. Continuing to do the things you have always done will only land you in the places that you have already been. In order to open doors to new experiences you must change the actions you’ve stuck to for so long. The worst thing that can happen is that it doesn’t work out and you need to try something else. This can be an extremely difficult and emotional process, but that makes the wins that much sweeter.
Number three, dedicate 30 days of your life to this new dream of yours and watch how things change. Form new habits, create new hobbies, gain the material, gain the knowledge, watch videos, learn about what it is that you want to achieve. Immerse yourself and dedicate your mind and body to start doing things that will serve your life well and assist in your progression. Do not spend any more time dwelling in spaces or doing activities that leave you feeling empty and unfulfilled. People who drain you and those who do not support you no longer get any of your time or energy. It’s time to level up.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth over the past 365 days has definitely been the shift in giving glory to God. The things that I achieve are not by my own will, and once I began giving God the recognition, my business and life flourished. Never feel ashamed to stand up for the things that you believe in. Sometimes it will be you standing by yourself for the things that matter, and that is OK. You will gain a lot more respect from people who matter when you decide to give yourself and God, the necessary respect. That being said do not let anyone minimize the things that are important in your life. The things that hold the top spots on your priority list, may be on the bottom of the next person‘s; and that does not matter. Focusing specifically on your path and plan will lead you into places only meant for you. Exposing yourself to the emotions and experiences that come with someone else’s journey will always be overwhelming because they are not meant for us. Focus on what is important to you, stay, dedicated, support the people you care about, but never over involve yourself. You are needed for your own journey.
