Queen Lea’, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Resilience is such a powerful and beautiful word that is so necessary to have to navigate through life and survive this world and its society’s that aren’t so kind and unified and extremely divided in so many ways especially today! I think for a little fat black girl growing up in a single parent home in low income housing and watching our situation at times you witness predators violating their prey in horrific ways, you witness women being forced to be both parents as the woman and the man but then criticized by everyone as Dominant Angry Black Aggresive Women when we are simply trying to make it in a world where we are viewed as less than! I don’t know any other way to be, starting from my ancestors working through deprivation of sleep during slavery & it’s embedded in my DNA and the strong women who groomed me that quitting is not an option and no matter what to fight until your very last breath for what you want and what you believe in and what you love! It’s instilled in me and it’s the dna passed down from a family of black queens and I share it with all women no matter their race or size or religion, I’m about empowering #QueensSupportingQueens

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Queen Lea’ Gardner, owner of “Black Opal TV Network that streams on the ROKU APP, so make sure you type it in the search and add it! If you don’t have Roku, no worries because it airs 24/7 for FREE on its website and all available TV Channels! I’m also the owner of Black Opal Cable TV Network that streams on the ROKU APP, APPLE TV & FIRE TV! Make sure to add it as well on all of these major platforms and support! Lastly there is Black Opal Radio TV Station that streams live through my cable network on all platforms!

Why did I establish and create all of this? I wanted to be a spark of change in TV, Media and Entertainment industry and to help my community globally with opportunities that aren’t offered by most networks. I wanted to provide aspiring tv producers and directors, independent producers and content creators to have a TV Home to air their content without relinquishing their ownership rights, their creativity compromised and controlled and only obtaining a small percentage of compensation controlled by the network and producers. It also provides a safe space to allow all walks of life to have an opportunity to speak and use their voice because it’s budget friendly and not exclusive to the wealthy and controlled sensory of the government or the elite! My tv network is for the global community and its people, providing every one with a voice and a platform to share their work in over 160 countries across the world! We simply AIR YOUR WORK, not control it or own it! The other beautiful thing is that these individuals I help with knowledge to pursue their own investors, advertisers and more to capitalize monetarily to create their own income from simply doing what they love to do! Together this concept will help us build collectively in support of each other and its joint purpose with my concept and that’s only part of my mission!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Wow, it’s hard to only pick three when there were and still are so many things that is still much needed on my journey and my purpose! I would say for me that I truly believe in my purpose and why I’m here! I didn’t know it at first and was in warp drive into so many things but once I did…it’s been feet hitting the floor running as if I’m running for my life because I am! Being given a death sentence of 3 months to life definitely changes things for you and your perspectives in life and your mindset becomes even more determined to fight against time to pursue and fulfill your dreams and in 2001 that was my mindset and I informed My Cardiologist Dr Molinger that I have never put faith in men, only God and that God has the last say & Im still standing in 2025! I have to add Tenacity because so many people have told me that & I embrace it because I want to continue to inspire women of size, disabilities, color, social status and the list goes on that no matter what GO AFTER YOUR DREAMS AND YOU CAN DO IT NO MATTER WHAT ANYWAY SAYS!!!!!! My whole childhood I was criticized by members in my own family from my sibling being called fat black and ugly, from an uncle telling me that I was too fat to be a singer, to my aunt naming me Shamu the whale and making fun of me and the list goes on! When you constantly hear it, you begin to believe it & I had to fight internally for years through it and found my own strength! So if I had to name 3, it would be FAITH, STRENGTH AND TENACITY AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! Put horse blinders on because YOUR AMBITIONS WILL DISTURB PEOPLE IN THE WORST WAY!

I’d love to be able to network and collaborate and provide EVERYONE to be a part of my tv network, cable network and radio tv stations and more! I’m looking forward to working with investors to continue to build and partners and all who want the same changes in media and tv! So if you have ever wanted your own tv show or talk show?
