We were lucky to catch up with Rochelle Knight recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rochelle, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I’ve learnt that courage is not the absence of fear, but learning to act in spite of it. So, I wouldn’t say that I’ve 100% overcome imposter syndrome but I’ve mastered breaking barriers by telling myself that I wouldn’t have been presented with the opportunities I’ve been given if I didn’t deserve them. Any time imposter syndrome creeps up, I shake it off and whisper to myself “You belong” then deliver my best self.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the writer and content creator behind Adventures from Elle, a Jamaican-focused travel and lifestyle blog. On this platform, I showcase Jamaica’s most beautiful and lesser-known attractions to help visitors and fellow locals experience Jamaica authentically. I highlight hidden gems such as our rivers, waterfalls, lush mountains, charming small towns and authentic cultural experiences. Through detailed guides, stories, and travel tips, I aim to inspire travelers to discover a more immersive, affordable, and meaningful side of Jamaica—one that celebrates our natural beauty, heritage, and vibrant local life. These days, my travel guides extend beyond local shores but the message is the same- showing my readers that travel is possible even with a full time job and weak passport.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Confidence, authenticity and adaptability are key. Sometimes you have to project more confidence than you have until it comes naturally, or in other words, fake it till you make it. Next, your audience wants to see the real you so show them that. Your quirks and flaws make you who you are, so don’t try to be someone else. Everyone else is already taken so show the world why they need your uniqueness in their feeds and inboxes. Lastly, algorithms and trends are always changing so make sure you remain adaptable. The only constant in life is change.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Sure! I’m always happy to showcase travel stories and guides from minority group travelers and expats. Please send me a DM on Instagram or an email (see my website’s contact form) and we can talk further. While I can’t offer monetary payment at this time, increased traffic and backlinks to your own website and socials are valuable.
