We recently connected with Keen Khalid and have shared our conversation below.
Keen, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose; through my passion(s). I used to get the two confused, thinking if i’m passionate about something, it must be my purpose. But that’s not necessarily true. . . Naturally I looked up the definition of both words, to really differentiate the two, and understand where my thought process was taking me.
Passion – noun: an intense desire or enthusiasm for something.
Purpose – noun: an abiding intention to achieve a long-term goal, that is both personally meaningful, and makes a positive mark on the world.
With those meanings I find it hard to have one without the other. I always knew I was passionate about the arts, fashion, and all things creative. While diving deeper into my passion and learning how to express it; is where I found my purpose. As I believe we are all born with passions, we can not shake, following that passion should lead you to purpose. Your purpose should be kept sacred, like a secret mission, waiting to be completed.
In short: Your purpose is your “what” will you leave behind?! Your passion is your “why” did I do it?!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hi I’m Keen and I am an artist first. All in all I consider myself an all around artist. I sing, model, dance, paint, act, design, etc. I am mostly known for my modeling work.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My first quality/skill would be Integrity. Which is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.
Second would be resilience. The ability to adapt well in the face of adversity. The capacity to “bounce back” from difficulties.
Third is the skill of continuous learning. Never get too comfortable with your current skill set and knowledge, There is always more to learn and room to sharpen previous abilities.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
If I knew I only had a decade of life left, I would spend it “living life to the fullest” of my ability. I would allow myself to truly explore my creativity and life around me. Become more imaginative and see what I am able to bring to fruition. I would allow the weight of adulting off of my shoulders and lean more into my playful spirit.
