We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bradford Rogne. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bradford below.
Bradford, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I think my resilience comes from building a creative career in Los Angeles for more than two decades — a city that constantly evolves and asks you to level up with it. When I started as a young headshot photographer and celebrity makeup artist in Hollywood, I had no idea how many challenges the entertainment industry could throw at you: shifting trends, strikes, economic slumps, social media changing how people discover work — you name it.
But the thing that kept me going was always the people in front of my camera. When a client lands an audition, signs with a better agent, gets a promotion, or finally sees themselves with confidence in a portrait — that’s the fuel. That’s what pushes me forward.
Resilience also comes from constantly adapting my craft. Over the years, I’ve learned new lighting techniques, new posing and coaching methods, and I’ve expanded my Downtown LA Arts District studio into a place where clients from all walks — actors, business owners, executives, entrepreneurs — can walk in and feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Some years have been incredibly rewarding — and others required grit and self-belief. But staying consistently recognized among the Best Headshot Photographers in Los Angeles didn’t come from playing it safe. It came from reinvention, from showing up even when it was tough, and from caring deeply about the result.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a Los Angeles headshot photographer and makeup artist based in the Downtown LA Arts District, specializing in actor headshots, executive portraits, and corporate team photography. My studio has always been a welcoming space where people can show up exactly as they are — and leave feeling seen, confident, and ready to take the next step in their careers.
What I love most about headshot photography is the collaboration. Everyone who walks into my studio has a story, a goal, a personal brand — and together we shape how that shows up on camera. Whether I’m working with a seasoned Hollywood actor or someone updating their LinkedIn profile for the first time in years, I approach each session with the same energy: we’re building something that matters to your future.
One thing that sets my work apart is that I’m able to combine photography with my background in celebrity makeup artistry. That dual skill set helps me guide every detail of the shoot — lighting, posing, expression, grooming — so the final portrait feels both polished and authentic. Clients consistently tell me how comfortable they feel during the process, especially if they’re not used to being in front of a camera. To me, that trust is everything.
I’m proud to be recognized among the Best Headshot Photographers in Los Angeles, and what keeps me motivated after more than 20 years is the transformation I see in people — the boost of confidence when they see their images, the excitement of new opportunities that follow, and the pride they feel in presenting themselves professionally.
At the end of the day, I’m in the business of helping people step into the next chapter of their careers — and I feel grateful every time someone chooses to do that in my studio.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my career, there are three qualities that have been especially important in my journey as a Los Angeles headshot photographer and makeup artist:
⸻
1 | Connection & Communication
A great headshot isn’t just lighting and lenses — it’s trust. People need to feel comfortable enough to be themselves in front of the camera. My job is to guide, reassure, and make the experience feel relaxed and collaborative.
Advice:
Practice directing real people — not just professional models. Learn to read energy, give clear guidance, and create a safe environment. The more you can help someone feel confident, the stronger the final image will be.
⸻
2 | Technical Craft & Continuous Learning
Lighting, posing, expression, styling — it all matters. My background in makeup artistry gave me a deep understanding of how small details affect how someone shows up on camera. And after 20+ years, I’m still learning new techniques all the time.
Advice:
Don’t rush this part. Study the craft. Assist other photographers. Get comfortable with every tool at your disposal so creativity becomes instinct, not effort.
⸻
3 | Resilience in a Changing Industry
The entertainment and business worlds shift constantly — from headshot styles to digital trends to how clients find you online. Staying consistently recognized as one of the Best Headshot Photographers in Los Angeles meant adapting, evolving, and staying excited about the work.
Advice:
Expect ups and downs. Keep refining your style, your systems, and your client experience. Success comes from longevity — and longevity comes from flexibility.
⸻
At the heart of it, this career is about people and possibility. If you lead with curiosity, treat every client with respect, and keep improving your craft, you’ll build something meaningful — and it will last.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely — I love collaborating. After more than 20 years as a Los Angeles headshot photographer and makeup artist, I’ve learned that the best work is almost always created with other passionate professionals. I’m always excited to connect with talent agents and managers, casting teams, and publicists who are looking for branding imagery that helps their clients get noticed.
On the corporate side, I partner with law firms, tech companies, and executive teams who want consistent, elevated portraits for websites and press. I work both in-studio in the Downtown LA Arts District and on-location for larger groups.
I’m also looking to collaborate more with wardrobe stylists and other visual creatives who want to bring new ideas to life — editorial-style branding shoots, publication-ready imagery, and projects that push beyond the traditional headshot. My goal is always to help people look and feel like the most confident version of themselves, and a great creative team makes that possible.
