We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joslyn Rose. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joslyn below.
Hi Joslyn , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I think resilience, for me, comes from the spaces between, the quiet moments where I’ve had to sit with uncertainty, loss, or change and find light in it anyway. As a filmmaker, resilience is almost a creative muscle. Every project has different ways of strengthening it. The process always seems to require patience and faith. When things change, I try to see it as direction. I get my resilience from love, my love for the process, the people I create with, and love for the purpose that keeps me grounded. It’s that combination that become my foundation as an artist.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As an artist, filmmaker and storyteller, I’m always drawn to stories about transformation, what it means to awaken, to heal, and to find magic, the extraordinary within the ordinary moments of our lives. What excites me most about filmmaking is its alchemy. The process is a conversation between the seen and the unseen. It’s where truth and imagination meet, and something beautiful emerges. Currently, I’m in different phases of production and development on several scripted projects, and continuing to direct work with artists and visionaries whose stories remind us what it means to live with purpose. My work has always been about light. That’s how I see filmmaking, its as a vessel that can be filled with whatever stories the world most needs. I choose to seek that light, and in turn hope my work inspires others seek it too.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Faith, patience, and persistence.
Faith keeps me grounded, it’s what allows me to move through uncertainty with trust, to believe in divine timing even when I can’t see the full picture. Patience reminds me that growth takes time, that everything unfolds in its own time. And persistence, that determination to keep going. For anyone early in their journey, stay connected to your in faith and keep showing up. Every step, even the small ones, are part of the process of creating your dreams.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Alchemist has been a timeless book on my journey, it’s one of those stories that finds you at different moments in your life and speaks a new truth each time. What’s always stayed with me is the idea that when you follow the calling of your heart, the universe aligns to support you. That’s been true for me again and again, every time I’ve trusted intuition over fear, something meaningful has unfolded. Another lesson from the book is that our “personal legend” isn’t about arriving somewhere; it’s about who we become along the way. The detours, the heartbreaks, the waiting, they’re all part of the transformation. It reminds me that faith is a creative act, that even in stillness, something is working on your behalf. And that’s really what filmmaking has always been for me: a kind of alchemy, a search for light, and a belief that what’s meant for you will always find its way.
