We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jazzreeal Le’tease a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jazzreeal, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from life itself. I’ve had to be strong and show up even when things didn’t make sense or feel fair. There were times when I didn’t have anyone to fall back on, so I had to learn to depend on myself and stay focused no matter what. That taught me how to push through and stay disciplined.
I think a lot of it also comes from knowing my “why.” I’ve always felt that my purpose is bigger than me, and that pushes me to keep going. Writing You, Empowered was one of those moments where my drive met my purpose. I wanted to show people that even through pain, doubt, or delays, you can still rise and create something powerful. That’s what keeps my fire lit.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m the author of You, Empowered: A Compelling Guide to Embracing Your Worth, which came straight from my own process of rebuilding and learning how to see myself again. For a long time, I poured into everyone else and forgot what it meant to pour into me. Writing this book helped me find my voice and reminded me that healing doesn’t have to mean hiding. It can mean standing tall in who you are and choosing yourself again and again.
My work now is centered on helping others do the same. I’m focused on reaching people who are ready to reconnect with their power and remember that they are worthy of peace, love, and purpose. Through You, Empowered, I’ve been able to open doors for real conversations about healing and self-worth in places where they’re often needed most, like women’s prisons, libraries, and community spaces.
What means the most to me is when someone tells me the book made them feel seen. That’s the moment everything comes full circle, because I know what it feels like to need that reminder.
Professionally, I’m continuing to grow this movement by expanding the outreach program, creating workshops, and building partnerships that align with empowerment and transformation. This is more than a book for me. It’s a mission to help people see themselves clearly, love themselves deeply, and rise into the version of themselves they were always meant to be.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that shaped my journey the most are self-awareness, discipline, and faith.
Self-awareness taught me how to be honest with myself. It’s easy to point to everything around us as the reason why things aren’t working, but growth starts when you’re willing to look within and face what needs to change. My advice to anyone just starting out is to spend time with yourself. Get quiet, reflect, and learn your patterns. The more you understand who you are, the easier it becomes to align your choices with your purpose.
Discipline helped me stay consistent when motivation faded. There were times when I didn’t feel inspired, but I showed up anyway. That consistency built strength and confidence over time. My advice is to start small. Commit to one thing each day that moves you closer to your goal and build from there. Progress doesn’t happen overnight, but small steps done consistently create real results.
Faith carried me through the moments when I couldn’t see what was ahead. It gave me the courage to keep going when everything felt uncertain. My advice is to trust that every step, even the hard ones, is shaping you for what’s next. Sometimes the path doesn’t make sense until you look back and see how it all came together.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I’m always open to collaborating with people and organizations that share a heart for empowerment, healing, and transformation. My main focus right now is expanding the You, Empowered outreach program, which brings my book and workshops into women’s prisons, shelters, libraries, and community spaces. I’d love to partner with educators, nonprofits, mental health advocates, and anyone creating spaces for growth and second chances.
I’m also open to collaborating with media outlets, book clubs, and event organizers who want to help spread this message of self-worth and empowerment to wider audiences.
If you’re reading this and feel aligned with the mission, I’d love to connect. You can reach out through my website or social platforms to start the conversation. Together, we can reach more people and remind them that they are worthy, capable, and empowered to rewrite their story.
