We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Emily Saunders a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Emily, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience? It comes from the kind of deep-rooted grit that’s been forged in me since day one—and honestly, it’s been tested and tempered in the beautiful chaos of building a family and a business at the same time.
I was raised by entrepreneurs who turned nothing into something, scraping by with sheer determination and a refusal to quit. They didn’t just share stories—they pulled me into the day-to-day hustle from a young age. I was the first in my family to graduate college, so grinding through those late nights studying while juggling cheer team responsibilities was natural for me. That wasn’t just survival; it was a blueprint for showing up, no matter what.
Grit isn’t something they taught in words—it seeped into my bones through every breakthrough after breakdown, every pivot when the odds stacked against us. It’s that unshakeable belief that progress isn’t linear, but it’s always possible if you keep showing up.
Then came motherhood, which hit like a plot twist I wasn’t fully prepared for. Becoming a mom the first time cracked me open—those early days of exhaustion, doubt, and that fierce love that demands you rise anyway. But we didn’t stop at one. Growing our family to five kids (a wild mix of biological and hearts we’ve adopted into ours) stretched me in ways I couldn’t imagine. Sleepless nights turned into seasons of wrangling school schedules, sports, and those holy-messy moments of faith talks around the dinner table. Each addition brought its own storms—the mental load, behavioral hurdles, the sheer logistics of keeping everyone fed and thriving—but it also built this muscle of adaptability. I learned resilience isn’t about being unbreakable; it’s about bending without snapping, trusting that God’s got the glue.
And scaling our business? Oh, that’s where the fire really got lit. Launching Momsanity and Raise Them Well while knee-deep in diapers and schedules meant constant trade-offs: late-night product launches squeezed between bedtime stories, pivots through supply chain headaches and market shifts, all while whispering prayers for provision. There were months I questioned if we could keep going, but leaning into that entrepreneurial DNA begun by my parents reminded me—resilience is a daily choice. It’s doubling down on what lights you up (like creating wellness tools that make mom-life a little saner) and surrounding yourself with a tribe that cheers the wins and holds on for the wobbles.
At the end of the day, my resilience flows from that grit in my bones, amplified by grace and the people who make the fight worth it. It’s what keeps me standing, smiling, and saying yes to the next chapter—because if we’ve made it this far, imagine what’s next.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hey there, fellow moms (and anyone who’s ever tried to keep up with one)—I’m so thrilled to chat about Momsanity, the heart-project that’s basically my love letter to every woman juggling sippy cups, deadlines, and that quiet voice whispering, “You’ve got this, with a little help.”
At its core, Momsanity is a community and a line of simple wellness tools designed to help busy moms like us reclaim our energy, strength, and sanity—without the guilt trip or the gimmicks. We’re all about those four pillars that keep us grounded: motherhood (because it’s our superpower), faith (the anchor in the storm), fitness (quick wins that fit into chaos), and nutrition (fuel that actually tastes like joy, not punishment). Think plant-based protein powders blended with collagen for muscle recovery and glow-from-within vibes, electrolytes to crush that mid-afternoon slump, and crave-busting supplements that make saying no to the candy aisle feel like a victory lap. Our products are dairy-free, mom-tested (by me and my squad of five wildlings), and crafted to slip seamlessly into your day—whether you’re blending a shake post-workout or whipping one up as your kids’ afternoon snack.
What lights me up most? Hands down, the stories pouring in from moms who’ve gone from “I’m just surviving” to “I’m showing up stronger—for my family, my faith, and myself.” It’s special because Momsanity isn’t some polished empire; it’s born from the raw, real trenches of two women stepping into the unknown together. Back in 2013, my business partner Debbie and I launched this dream at the most pivotal moments of our lives—I was a wide-eyed first-time mom, navigating the sleep-deprived wonder of it all, and she was newly widowed, rebuilding her world with quiet courage. We were both thrust into these wildly new stages, clinging to faith and each other, and out of that shared vulnerability, Momsanity was born. It’s grown alongside us—scaling while I grew our family to five (bio, adopted hearts, and all the beautiful mess in between), switching to a University hybrid school (meaning my kids are home two days a week). We weave faith right into the fabric because, let’s be real, true balance starts with grace, not grind. It’s exciting to watch this ripple out: moms hitting PRs in the gym, reclaiming dinner-table convos without the exhaustion fog, and building tribes that lift each other up.
A quick shoutout to our unsung heroes that are timelessly fabulous: Mom Fuel, our best-selling plant-based protein blended with collagen—20g of clean, dairy-free power in flavors like vanilla and chocolate that mix silky smooth for that post-workout boost or kid-friendly snack, supporting everything from muscle repair to that radiant mom-glow. Crave, the rich cocoa blend infused with BCAAs that’s like a hug for your sweet tooth—taming cravings while supporting energy and recovery in one indulgent scoop. And our Natural BCAAs? Clean, naturally sweetened magic in a 3:1:1 ratio for hydration, muscle repair, and keeping the whole family fueled without any artificial junk. These aren’t shiny new drops, but they’re the quiet MVPs that make mom-life feel a whole lot more doable.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Unwavering perseverance—”never give up” grit turning “no” into “not yet.”
It fueled us through lean times, like supply flops or doubt-filled nights, evolving kitchen experiments into staples like Mom Fuel. Everything takes longer and more energy than you think.
Advice: Reframe setbacks as setups. Journal your “why” weekly; grab 1-2 accountability pals for wins and nudges. Aim for 1% daily progress—celebrate small.
2. Building amazing teams—seeking shines where you dim.
You will burn out solo-handling everything. Know your strengths and weaknesses. We are so grateful for tech whizzes, graphics pros, and ops experts for time-sucks like inventory. Our crew now works seamlessly to put it all together.
Advice: List energizers vs. drains—delegate drains fast. Network casually (mom groups, LinkedIn); offer value first. Hire someone early on who has lots of skills and believes in your dream!
3. Starting small, growing organically—ditch fancy for foundational.
No glossy chases; we bootstrapped with blenders, clean-ingredient tweaks, and mom-word-of-mouth. It kept us agile scaling on demand for true service.
Advice: You don’t need a fancy website, work on growing your loyal customer base, especially through an email list!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely, collaboration is the secret sauce that makes all this mom-magic even sweeter! We’re always on the hunt for partners who get the beautiful chaos of family life and bring simple, heartfelt solutions to the table—think fellow brands in wellness, parenting tools, or faith-rooted resources that empower moms to thrive without the overwhelm.
Shoutout too to our influencers and creators: Our affiliate program is a total win-win, with generous commissions on our clean staples like Mom Fuel and Crave—perfect for sharing what actually works in your world. Easy sign-up, real support, and a community that cheers you on.
