We were lucky to catch up with Cher Hobbick recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cher, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I don’t know that I’ve overcome imposter syndrome — I think I’ve just learned to challenge it like I would a rule I don’t agree with or an authority figure I don’t respect. I push back. I tell it it’s wrong, it’s ridiculous, and frankly, it doesn’t know what it’s talking about. It’s basically a middle finger to imposter syndrome.
When that voice creeps in, I ask it: ‘If not me, then who?’ I look for someone — anyone — outside of my own mind to tell me I can’t. And really, I’ve never had that happen and until it does, I keep going. I treat imposter syndrome like a bad referee in a tied game. I’m not letting it make the final call.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
It’s been a wild and exciting year for my businesses — Bite Me Catering and Altitude 15 in Downtown Olympia. Transforming a 100-year-old building into a vibrant Food Hall and Culinary Co-op has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Altitude 15 is more than a space — it’s a vision come to life. We’re celebrating its Grand Opening with an unforgettable New Year’s Eve party, and then officially opening to the public on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Bite Me Catering continues to blow me away. In just over three years, it’s grown into an award-winning catering company, and that’s all thanks to the incredible team behind it. Their talent, hustle, and heart make everything possible.
Yes, it’s hard work — but I love it. Watching a dream take shape and become real is one of life’s greatest highs. My mission is to create spaces and experiences that bring people together through food, celebration, and community — and I can’t wait to share it with you.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For me, the three most important qualities are the ability to learn, having grit, and being able to pivot.
The ability to learn keeps me curious and adaptable — I never assume I know everything, and I’m always open to new ideas, tools, and perspectives. Grit is what gets me through the hard stuff. It’s the drive to keep going when things get messy, complicated, or exhausting. And the ability to pivot? That’s survival. Business doesn’t follow a straight line, and being willing to shift direction — without losing momentum — has been one of my biggest strengths.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was teach me to live life to the fullest, chase my dreams, and have fun along the way.
When I was in fourth grade, they picked me and my sister up from school — which usually meant trouble — and told us they were selling everything: the house, most of our belongings, and we were hitting the road in an old school bus. It was 1976, and for the next nine years, we traveled the country. We’d stop here and there so my dad could work and we could attend school, but every year brought a new place, new people, and new experiences.
My upbringing was deeply loving and close-knit, but definitely non-traditional — and that shaped everything about me. I learned to adapt, to explore, and to question norms. I’m not wired to follow a conventional path. I blaze my own trail, and that spirit is absolutely at the core of who I am today.
