Meet Jenny Landis

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenny Landis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jenny, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from walking through my own darkness and learning to make art from it. Every challenge I’ve faced, mental health struggles, anxiety, moments of burnout has become a brushstroke in the larger story of who I am. Instead of running from the hard emotions, I learned to create through them.

It began years ago when depression pushed me inward and art became my medicine. Through painting, writing, sound, and movement, I found that expression could transform pain into meaning. That process, what I now call Art Alchemy, taught me that resilience isn’t about pushing through; it’s about staying present, feeling deeply, and allowing creation to be the way through.

As a psychiatric nurse and healing arts facilitator, I’ve seen how the human spirit bends but doesn’t break when given space to express and be seen. I get my resilience from that truth, from every circle shared, every tear turned into expressive art, every person brave enough to show up as they are.

Resilience, to me, is born from connection to self, to community, and to something greater that moves through us when we create.

That’s where I return to, again and again:
to art, to spirit, to love.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Jenny Landis, and I’m the founder of Art Alchemy School and Soul Art Alchemy Association, a nonprofit organization devoted to making expressive arts and creative healing accessible to all.

As a psychiatric nurse, expressive arts facilitator, and lifelong intuitive creator, my work bridges the worlds of mental health, spirituality, and creative expression. I guide individuals to dissolve inner blocks, rekindle their creative spark, and reconnect with their authentic self through the healing power of art to create meaningfully.

At the core of everything I do is the belief “what you become is the art, not the way you arrived” Through Art Alchemy School, I offer workshops, online courses, and reflective gatherings that nurture courage, creativity, and self-awareness. Each space is designed to help participants slow down, listen inward, and create from the heart.

The free Mini Creative Courage Course offers three guided expressive art videos and prompts to help people rebuild confidence, overcome creative blocks, and reconnect with joy in the process of making.

Inside our online community on Skool, members can access this course, join Sip & Spark, a weekly morning live creative reflection circle and explore ongoing conversations around healing, creativity, and authentic living.

Through my YouTube channel, Creative Courage with Jenny Landis, I share accessible resources, guided art sessions, and storytelling that inspire others to embrace creative expression as a form of self-care and personal growth.

Inner Realms is a reflective meditation series that provides space to come back to ourselves in a gentle way for 10 mins or less.

The nonprofit branch, Soul Art Alchemy Association, extends this mission into the wider community. We’re currently expanding partnerships and launching a Crayon Drive, collecting new and gently used art supplies to support Art Alchemy for Kids, a developing program rooted in expressive arts, emotional literacy, and belonging. This initiative reflects our belief that every child deserves access to creative tools and spaces that nurture self-expression and healing.

Our vision is simple yet profound:
To use art as a language of healing, connection, and transformation.
To create spaces where creativity feels safe, sacred, and alive.
And to remind every person that the spark they’re seeking has been within them all along.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are self-trust, emotional awareness, and creative courage.

Self-trust came through experience by listening to my intuition even when it didn’t make logical sense. As a psychiatric nurse and creative, I often walked between two worlds: science and spirit.

Learning to trust that inner voice, especially when stepping into the unknown, allowed me to build a life and business rooted in authenticity rather than expectation.

My advice for others is to start small: notice what feels aligned and what doesn’t, and honor those signals. That’s where your guidance lives.

Emotional awareness has been my greatest teacher. The ability to sit with discomfort, name what I’m feeling, and express it through art changed everything. It’s what keeps me grounded, compassionate, and real in my work. For those beginning their healing or creative journey, start by creating space for your emotions instead of pushing them away.
They’re not obstacles, they’re messengers.

And finally, creative courage, the willingness to create even when you’re scared or uncertain. I used to believe I had to be “ready” or “good enough,” but I learned that creativity flourishes when we permit ourselves to be imperfect. If you’re just starting, let curiosity lead the way.
Pick up a brush, a pen, or a song and simply begin and celebrate that win.

Each of these qualities continues to evolve within me. They remind me that growth isn’t about arriving, it’s about showing up, staying open, and allowing the creative process to shape you.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is a creative soul who’s ready to reconnect with themselves on a deeper level. They may feel stuck, burnt out, or disconnected from their creative spark, but deep down, they know there’s more to them waiting to be expressed.

They’re often people who have spent years caring for others or striving to “hold it all together,” and are now learning to listen inward again. Many are artists, healers, or helpers—individuals who feel deeply, think deeply, and are searching for ways to bring their inner world into form.

What makes someone an ideal fit isn’t their artistic skill; it’s their willingness to show up authentically. They value self-growth, curiosity, and honesty over perfection. They’re drawn to reflection, ritual, and community, and they sense that art can be a powerful way to heal and rediscover their voice.

The people I work with are ready to dissolve inner resistance, explore the unseen parts of themselves, and create from a place of truth and alignment. They crave a space that feels safe, soulful, and grounded, one where they can breathe, express, and remember who they are beneath the noise.

In essence, my ideal client is ready to turn their pain into purpose, their emotions into art, and their story into a source of strength.
