Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patricia Marin Miranda. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Patricia , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity can emerge at any moment—sometimes in just a matter of seconds. I’m always tuned in to my surroundings, my thoughts, and the emotions that move through me. For me, creativity begins in the soul and the mind. When I create, I feel a deep sense of happiness and joy in that specific moment. Inspiration often comes from a connection between the past and the present—an experience that awakens memories from childhood or earlier moments in life. These memories stir emotions that inspire me to capture and express the experience through my unique artwork.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
What I create today began long ago, when I was a young girl captivated by the beauty of the world around me. I was drawn to landscapes—the colors shaped by the Creator, the scent of flowers and forests, the quiet grace of living creatures. Each view spoke to me in its own language, whispering something I felt compelled to capture. I wanted to paint not only what I saw, but what I felt, so others could share the experience that lived inside me.
I remember watching an artist in my neighborhood – a painter whose brush seemed to dance across the canvas. I studied the way he mixed colors, how he brought light to life. Those early memories became part of me, waiting quietly until years later, when I began painting on feathers. Suddenly, they returned—guiding my hands as I learned to express images on something both delicate and alive.
What I do now is a gift I only discovered five years ago, and each feather I paint reminds me that creativity can awaken at any time in life. Using this fragile yet resilient material teaches me patience and strength. A feather bends but does not break—just as life challenges us to find grace within difficulty.
Painting on feathers is deeply meaningful to me. Their softness contrasts with their endurance; they can survive for thousands of years, outlasting many other mediums. The thought that my art may one day be seen by my great-great-grandchildren fills me with joy. In every stroke, I feel that I am preserving both a personal legacy and the spirit of the birds themselves—honoring their beauty, and perhaps, in some way, helping them live on.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I have always challenged myself to create. When I was young, I danced on television, shaped clay into ceramics, and decorated cakes like small sculptures. I never thought, “I can’t do that.” Creativity has always felt like a natural language—something I was meant to explore. Starting something new has never frightened me; since childhood, I’ve taught myself the skills I needed to bring an idea to life. That same spirit guided me decades later when, at nearly sixty, I discovered the art of painting on feathers.
Patience and persistence have carried me through every challenge. I’ve learned that when something feels impossible, the best thing to do is step back, breathe, and return the next day with fresh eyes and a steady heart. I keep going until it works—until the vision inside me finds its way into the world.
When new artists ask me where inspiration comes from or how to find success, I always tell them the same thing: Work hard from your heart. Let your heart lead the way—because that is where true creativity begins.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
I face a few challenges in my journey as an artist. One of them is that I began this path at the age of sixty. The art world can take many years—sometimes decades—to embrace a new artist, yet I feel blessed with the energy and spirit to pursue it wholeheartedly. Each time I begin a new painting, I feel like a teenager again—filled with excitement, curiosity, and joy. I believe I could keep creating until I’m a hundred years old.
One challenge is continually learning new techniques to enhance my painting skills and exploring new methods that help me expand and refine the vision behind my work. Another challenge is sharing with the world the beauty of fine art painted on natural feathers—a form of expression still unfamiliar to many. People are often surprised to learn that feathers can endure for centuries. They approach my work with curiosity and wonder, asking questions about this delicate, enduring canvas. Part of my mission is to educate others, helping them see the meaning, strength, and beauty within each piece.
I overcome these challenges by remembering that what I create is part of a legacy—something lasting for my children and grandchildren. Through my art, I hope to show them that it is never too late to follow your passion, to dream, and to begin again.
