Meet Kyrsta Morehouse

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kyrsta Morehouse a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kyrsta, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

Working in the industry that I do, self care is so important! I spend my days helping others and their self care journeys that it’s easy to forget about myself. That’s why it’s so important that I take the steps needed to recharge so I can show up as my best self. For me, self care can look like different things on different days, anything from: picking up my fave smoothie and sitting in a park with my feet in the grass, doing a face mask and taking a hot shower, lighting a candle and watching a favorite movie, or just cuddling my pets and letting everything outside of that moment melt away. Once I am recharged, I am able to show up as my best self for my clients – and myself!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a solo esthetician and opened my own practice in Barberton OH – as well as offering virtual services for people anywhere – a few months ago. I offer facial treatments, brow and lash treatments, full body waxing, makeup, surgery-free face/butt/breast lifts, and more. My passion comes from helping people and it is so rewarding to join people in their selfcare/skincare journeys. I struggle with hormonal acne, milia, etc myself so I know the toll it takes on you and strive to come alongside my clients so they know that we are in this together!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I came into esthetics with 13+ years of experience in the beauty industry as a celebrity makeup artist in Los Angeles. I think having those years of experience and comfort working with clients was so helpful in my journey. Additionally, my heart is my strongest asset with a genuine desire to connect with and help people. Lastly I would say I am very blessed to have an incredible support system at home to push me, hold me, and come alongside me. As far as advice for folks early in their career, my best advice for esthetics is to absorb every bit of knowledge that you can- go to conventions, seek out mentors, read books, listen to podcasts, take online courses and attend brand webinars! There is no such thing as over-learning so do all you can to understand your craft, tools, brand, and industry.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

Oh I love this question! The simple general answer is everyone is the ideal client – I pride myself in creating a space that everyone can feel safe, supported, and seen. But, to be more specific the ideal client for me is someone who is ready for a change. While I offer amazing treatments for everyone, my passion is really in corrective skincare and helping people find confidence in their skin. So for that I look for people who are willing to put in the work, continue home care, wears SPF, and come in on a regular basis for treatments. Skin changes don’t happen overnight, and consistency is key!
