Meet Kristina Perez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristina Perez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kristina , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Growing up as a military child and having to move to another “home” definitely builds resilience when you do it often enough. It gets hard. Constantly having to say goodbye to people and places. Everything just felt temporary, I learned how to wear a mask, shed a new skin constantly. But I also learned how to be resilient through my parents. My dad shows it through his work ethic, coming from a small town in California, joining the army to create a better life for himself, working hard everyday to make sure his family is taken care of. My mom taking care of 4 children in countries she was foreign to while my dad was away for deployment. It was hard but they both handled it with grace, and embraced every challenge and blessing that came their way. As I get older and face new challenges, I continue to learn that the storm is temporary and each challenge and each blessing is equally important when growing as a person.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am currently in school at a Cal State University working on my Bachelors for Film and Psychology. Trying to balance school, part time jobs, film projects, and adulting is definitely a whirlwind of emotions. But I am grateful for each experience. I am currently writing my first script for a short film called “Invisible Strings”. Invisible Strings is a story of how two beautiful souls meet unexpectedly but become intertwined with grief, self discovery and self acceptance. It’s a story I hold dear to me. We are currently in pre production and can’t wait to film and share this story with the rest of the world!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three important qualities that were most impactful in my journey were patience, gratitude, and drive. I used to feel like I was running out of time, I felt like I needed to get so many things done whether it be for projects, or personal experiences, I felt like I needed to rush. But I was reminded again and again by others and circumstances that you really can’t rush great things. I’ve learned that it’s best to go through each journey life throws at you with gratitude no matter how good or bad the situation is because it is only meant to help you grow as a person. I’ve also learned that having a drive or motivational force that pushes you to become better and go after your goals is what will make those dreams reality no matter how big or small they may be.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My family, friends, and therapist has helped me overcome challenges and continue to remind me to be kind to myself, love deeply, and live fearlessly. They are the driving force that encourage me to continue on this journey as an artist in LA.
