Meet Candi Usher

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Candi Usher a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Candi, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I was abused in every facet in my first marriage. I was mentally and emotionally abused in my second marriage. I went through abuse with a mentally ill mother. All of this destroyed my confidence and self- esteem. It took renewing my relationship with Christ, wanting to be a better mother to my sons, and cutting off connections to the people who hurt me to rebuild the woman I needed to be. I could no longer be the woman I was because she was unconfiident and had no self- esteem.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a 2 time award winning, internationally selling, now internationally traveled author of 8 years. I have written fourteen books over various genres. My brand is Ms Candi Girl LLC, where it’s not my story, but our story. I also create book covers, promotional videos, and support other indie author in every way possible.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My first quality is my faith in God. That has had the biggest impact on my life journey. My second would be my personality. I love people, and I love to be around them and share the joy that I have. My third quality would be I’m tenacious. I refuse to give up, no matter the obstacle.

My advice to others would be keep pushing. No matter what’s in your way, keep pushing. Someone is looking up to you.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

God has been lost helpful using my father. My dad encourages me through scripture, prayer, conversation, and love. He’s the reason why I push because I’ve watched him push. I’m a complete daddy’s girl. Watching my dad and mom be entrepreneurs has been what I needed to become one myself and be that example to my sons.
