Meet Angel Lozano

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angel Lozano a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Angel , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I would say it’s a long and hard journey of how overcome imposter syndrome if anything I still may have it from time to time because it’s normal to have imposter syndrome.

I think when I was younger, I never really thought I was gonna do much and the more I got older that I had that mentality stuck with me.

But then around 2020 during the pandemic, started getting into acting and everything. But I still wasn’t thinking like oh my gosh, I’m the best at this like I just felt like my work wasn’t the best.

Think what would help and much changed it. It’s just that not only did I go into writing my first ever full feature but also just like a lot of friendships, & people that I have met along the way who have imparted valuable lessons and advice but also have just been supportive of me and just be patient of me.

But I think even then even just been on my own now it’s just like I’ve gotten into appointments just like I think I just have to take those leaps and just trust that even if it comes out bad that at least I tried and did something regardless of, however, it came out.

I think that’s how I’ve just kind of realize. Just taking these risk made me just realize that to just trust in the process and that everything will be OK and that I am can do much and that there will be some stumbling, but just trust in that leap of faith. And that In itself has made me start to be like maybe you’re not so bad at stuff maybe it’s just much more overthinking and there has been a little less of that of that in my life because of the chances I’m taking.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hi, my name is Angel Lozano. I am an actor, writer, producer, & director. I focus on at the moment, producing and writing, but I’m planning to do acting and directing much more soon.

I had done some stuff in middle school , & high school in terms of like plays. It was post high school that I started writing, but then once the pandemic hit, I started doing acting. I only got to do small parts or background. I’ve now been starting to get into producing more. And I have a future project that I’m working on that will be my first time fully directing on my own.

I write horror as well as LGBT content. I also make sure It’s also very diverse In terms of characters.

I had just done the 48 hour film project for the second time. I have a project that will be my first time directing, which is called the New Year’s Break Up.

The most biggest thing at the moment is that I’ve been hosting zoom table reads. This is a great way to build a community.

Also, I’m planning to do future production of short film that is called unexpected.

A lot of these projects and working on our with friends whether it as Assistant Director or collaborator.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think just trusting myself is the most major advice that I have gotten. And it is something that I keep near and dear to me because It’s very important to just trust in yourself not only as a person, but in your decisions.

I think just another thing is just be upfront just be upfront and truthful.

And just have fun.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I think somebody that I want to collaborate with is as long as they’re kind, respectful, and just treating every level with respect while being efficient. And it doesn’t matter whatever level of experience it is because so glad to work with anyone whether they may be new or experience
