Meet Michelle Larson

We recently connected with Michelle Larson and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Michelle with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

That’s a fun question. I would say my work ethic comes from family influence, personal experiences, training, and education. Growing up I was a National Team gymnast. My coaches taught me the only way to the top was to work hard. I was built to stay focused and stay consistent no matter how long the task takes. I have been a gymnastics coach/owner, educator and now I enjoy my event floral business. I think of building flowers as creating something delicate, balanced, and full of life. I was trained to care for detail and to keep refining until the result feels natural and beautiful.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Scent From You Flowers is a special event floral company. I started the business to help with a stress free and budget friendly design process for different events. Flowers are a way to share beauty, care, and emotion without needing many words. There is something powerful about creating things that brighten someone’s day or mark a special memory. With Scent From You Flowers I am able to combine creativity, design, and connect with some of the most beautiful people. I really enjoy working with brides. Creating the floral vision she has dreamed about since she was a little girl is what makes it all worth it. Flowers capture emotion, joy, love, excitement in a way words can’t.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Communication- Listening to what my clients want. Understanding their vision and personality, translating that into floral art, and building trust through genuine connection.

Attention to Detail & Organization- Managing timelines, keeping flowers fresh, and making sure every stem is perfect for my client.

Creativity & Design- The ability to blend colors, textures, and shapes into arrangements that feel balanced.

My advice would be to build relationships with your clients. Listen to their needs and wants. Embrace the chaos of owning a small business. Flowers don’t always cooperate, and weddings can be stressful. But every design you deliver brings joy to someone’s milestone moment.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My husband and my family are the ones who show up when I am wiring bouquets at midnight or loading vans at dawn-they keep me grounded. My clients who believe in me. The clients who trust my vision even when I am still finding my rhythm. Their faith builds my confidence.
