We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kyle Barnett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kyle below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Kyle with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Great question! I believe work ethic can can be influenced by a number of factors in our environment and upbringing.
My work ethic has been most influenced by the people around me. My parents have always been instrumental in encouraging us to be great at what we do. Even if they were not saying it out loud, they were most definitely leading by example throughout my life. They have shown me that hard work can lead to great accomplishments.
Additionally, my wife is the hardest working person that I know. Attempting to keep up with her is impossible, but she keeps me on the grind everyday.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Cool Hand Crftd is a brand based around crafting goods with a purpose. We create industrial style decor and furniture, primarily made from reclaimed materials. Along with that, we have created a clothing line that is made from higher quality fits and fabrics. Heavier flannels, canvas jackets, and vintage-soft t-shirts.
We believe that hand-crafted products made from higher quality materials can really make a person feel better. No matter if it’s the shirt on their back or the table they eat at every night.
In addition to creating a well-made finished product, the creative process can be just as exciting.. We “get to,” not “have to,” use our hands, and our minds, to repurpose a lot of old materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. We consider that a rewarding lifestyle and the one we were built for.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Honestly, I don’t have a great answer for that question. From the beginning I was just determined to make cool sh*t. Most of the skills I have acquired and am still acquiring have been the product of simply remaining determined to create a successful brand. If I get to a point in the process that I am unsure of, I just do what I can to find a way. Whether it’s watching a youtube video or embracing the trial and error method, I’ve got figure it out. Perhaps that mindset comes from being determined.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Always looking to collaborate! We represent a demographic that appreciates the craft, whatever that may be. Craftsmanship can be associated with so many different industries and we just like to position ourselves with others who take pride in their work and love to create!
