Meet Rob Wellz

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rob Wellz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rob, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.

I was born blessed to have the family I have. My mom always managed to keep the lights on and me and my sister fed. We didn’t have all the luxuries we saw other people with, but we had love and we always made it through. So I’m cool with having bare minimum needs met. I enjoy finer things with my own money now, but I enjoy seeing others happy and enjoying before indulging for myself.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m Rob Wellz, MC & Founder Of Fortis Sterra Unbounded The Label as well as 40 Star Apparel. I’ve been making music for well over a decade. I love and live hip hop. It’s a part of me that fuels my drive to keep going in every aspect of my day. Being from New York, sometimes I get extra critical over music, being we are the birthplace and have some of the best lyricist in history. But I’ve grown to love to evolution and innovation of where rap and hip hop has gone and have tried to align my work with it as my career grows. I’m glad to have partnered with Evo Music to start distribution under The Orchard for future releases as well as rereleasing my previous works under them as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Being able to get up when the world knocks you down is pivotal to the journey within hip hop. There are a lot of ups and downs that you cannot let break you because once opportunity arises those hits you took will have made you strong enough to withstand the future battles with grace. Solid work ethic is another necessity. There is so much competition you have to stay ahead of the curve. And being genuine is what will help you achieve longevity in both the hip hop world and in life in general.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Being a father has definitely added a new level of consciousness in my life that has been beneficial in multiple areas. My grind is on a whole new level which I never thought could be possible. My alertness and willingness to do better day by day has been a great factor to help pursue growth. And handling things with more care is another key that has made challenges much easier.
