We were lucky to catch up with Michele Evans recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Michele, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I’ve been an entrepreneur for almost 30 years, and if I had to sum up where my work ethic comes from, I’d say it’s simple — I just don’t want to fail. That’s really been my motivation from the start. I’ve always believed that if I’m going to put my name on something, it has to represent excellence, passion, and purpose.
Over the years, I’ve built several businesses that reflect different sides of who I am — M.L.E Enterprises, my Notary Public, creative consulting and multimedia firm; The Fragrant Offering, my line of perfume body oils, scrubs, and handcrafted jewelry; and my radio stations, 99.9 KERB and K-JOY Radio. Each one came from a place of vision and faith, but they’ve all required hard work, long nights, and a whole lot of persistence.
My drive really comes from that mix of fear and faith — fear of failing, but faith that I can do whatever I put my mind to. I’ve learned that success doesn’t come from luck; it comes from consistency. I show up, I do the work, and I keep learning. That’s how I’ve built everything I have — by refusing to quit and staying true to my purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Everything I do comes down to creativity, connection, and service. Through M.L.E Enterprises, I help individuals and businesses bring their visions to life — whether that’s through brand consulting, web and radio advertising, digital design, or creative development. I love helping others turn an idea into something real, something that represents who they are and what they stand for.
I’m also the creator of The Fragrant Offering, my line of perfume body oils, scrubs, and handcrafted jewelry. It’s a brand that celebrates faith, beauty, and self-expression. Every scent and piece is made with intention — I want people to feel inspired, uplifted, and confident when they use my products.
Then there’s my passion for broadcasting. I own 99.9 KERB — Houston’s true variety mix — and K-JOY Radio, which plays praise and worship 24/7. Both stations allow me to share music that uplifts, entertains, and connects people across generations and genres. I also host two shows per week where I can express myself more personally. It’s amazing to see how music still brings communities together every single day.
And most recently, I’ve expanded my services to include Notary Public work — offering Mobile Notary, Remote Online Notary, and Loan Signing Services. It’s another way for me to serve my community with professionalism, reliability, and care. I know how important it is to have someone you can trust when it comes to legal documents, and I take that responsibility seriously.
What excites me most about everything I do is the freedom to create — to build something from the ground up, to inspire others, and to prove that with hard work and faith, you can turn your passions into purpose.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful things that shaped my journey are education, self-motivation, and adaptability.
Earning my Master’s in Business gave me a strong foundation — it taught me how to think strategically, plan effectively, and understand the structure behind running multiple ventures. But the truth is, a degree is only part of the story. My greatest growth has come from being willing to learn on my own — constantly researching, experimenting, and figuring things out when no one else could show me how. I’ve always believed that if you stop learning, you stop growing.
The third quality that’s carried me through is adaptability. Over nearly 30 years as an entrepreneur, I’ve had to evolve with technology, trends, and markets — from launching radio stations and building brands to creating a product line and offering new services like Notary Public work. Staying open to change has been key to my longevity.
My advice to anyone starting out is this: invest in yourself. Learn everything you can — formally and independently. Don’t wait for permission to start, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Every challenge teaches you something that no classroom ever could. Stay curious, stay consistent, and never let fear stop you from building what’s meant for you.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I’ve always believed that while it’s important to know and use your strengths, real growth happens when you work on your weaknesses. Going “all in” on what you’re already good at can take you far, but it’s the areas that make you uncomfortable that truly shape you.
For me, one of those areas has been putting myself out there. I’m naturally an introvert — I’m great at creating, building, and managing from behind the scenes, but for a long time, I struggled with public engagement. Reaching out to people, promoting my work, or even talking about what I do felt uncomfortable at first. But I knew that if I wanted my businesses — M.L.E Enterprises, The Fragrant Offering, and my radio stations 99.9 KERB and K-JOY Radio — to grow, I had to step out of that comfort zone.
So I started showing up more: hosting shows, attending events, networking, and putting my face and name behind my brands. It wasn’t easy at first, but it taught me confidence and connection — two things that can’t grow in isolation.
My advice? Don’t ignore your weaknesses — train them. They often hold the key to your next level. When you challenge yourself in the areas that scare you, you not only expand your skill set but also strengthen your character.
