Meet Peter Coleman

We recently connected with Peter Coleman and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Peter with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I get my work ethic from father. He has so many different jobs and constantly works to provide for his family. He owns a small business, owns rental property, and is a musician too who is in several bands! But growing up I was always surrounded by this and learned his ways of discipline and applied it to my everyday life. Such as music.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a local guitarist based in Hollywood/ Los Angeles! I play for for hire while working on my own music! It’s really exciting to be in the music scene because of the people you meet and the opportunities you can get! I’ve met some of my biggest influences and ended up working with or playing with them! That is a feeling no other profession can get unless you’re a musician! Though this path can be hard at times or even slow at times the outcome of it is so worth it!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most impactful traits that I think have helped me the most have been patience, good work ethic, and being humble. Some advice I would give to someone starting out young would be meet as many people as you can because you never know when someone is looking for someone. I’ve had gigs and opportunities from the most random people and it’s taken me to experiences that I thought I never would have!

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

The number one challenge I’m facing is not currently being in a project. I recently got out of my last band and have been looking for something new but it’s been slow. During this time I’ve had second thoughts about everything. Should I stay in LA, should I move somewhere else, am I good enough for something else. All these questions are normal and can hurt you. But you have to keep your head up and know opportunities will come.
