Meet Brandi Stansbury Moody

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandi Stansbury Moody. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandi below.

Hi Brandi, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

Honestly, I’ve never known any other way. I come from a long line of people who believed deeply in community, especially my grandfather and my mom. Watching them taught me that generosity isn’t just about giving; it’s about showing up for people.

My grandfather, Rudy DeLeon, was a huge advocate for community policing (there’s a police station named for him in East LA!) and believed in taking care of your neighbors. He was the kind of person who had the respect of everyone, from the local shopkeeper to the Governor of California. My mom carried that same spirit, constantly mentoring, helping, and lifting up others in her community. She worked tirelessly to help people feel seen and valued.

Their examples shaped me tremendously. Generosity, for me, feels like part of my DNA, a value I absorbed from seeing how they built connection and kindness into everyday life. It’s something that grounds me in both my career and in my personal day-to-day life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’ve spent my career helping brands learn who they are from the inside out and tell their stories, which is super rewarding as they continue to grow and I see them develop and thrive.

Currently, I’m working to launch Datesy, and it feels like a full-circle moment for me. Karim, the founder, brought me on to lead marketing, and I’m now a proud part-owner of the brand. It’s exciting to be part of something that aligns so closely with what I love: food, storytelling, and creating products that make people feel good about what they’re using every day.

Datesy is a single-ingredient date syrup that’s simple, healthy, and versatile. It blends seamlessly into everything from coffee to cooking. Being part of its growth, from refining the brand story to launching on Amazon and expanding into food service, and exciting partnerships, is incredibly rewarding. It’s rare to find a brand that feels both mission-driven and joyful, and I’m grateful to help bring that to life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1) Curiosity
From the start of my college/career, I was always deep diving; asking questions, connecting dots, and trying to understand things conceptually rather than just topically. That kind of curiosity builds strong critical thinking and a big-picture perspective, which becomes invaluable as you grow into leadership roles.

2) Daily Task Lists
Even in a world of project management platforms, I still make handwritten daily to-do lists that include both work and personal tasks. The simple act of writing things down helps me prioritize, focus, and feel a sense of accomplishment as I move through the day.

3) Be a people person
I’ve always had a knack for remembering faces, names, and details, which, in business and networking, is truly a superpower. If that doesn’t come naturally, try associating people with memorable cues like “Sarah from HR, die-hard Mets fan” or “Charlie from Sales, great with follow-ups.” I once watched a politician do this flawlessly, and it solidified how impactful small gestures of connection can be.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes! Datesy is looking to partner with brands and creators who share our love of good food and better ingredients. We’re especially excited to connect with coffee shops, cafés, and restaurants that want to offer a natural, single-ingredient sweetener, as well as foodservice groups, beverage formulators, and CPG brands looking for a clean sweetener option for new products.

We’d also love to collaborate with wellness, hospitality, and lifestyle brands that align with our mission of making healthy choices easy and delicious.
