Meet Jiajia Sollers

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jiajia Sollers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jiajia with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic comes from my mom. She’s a physics professor, and my childhood memories are of her working late into the night, preparing lectures, doing research, and writing textbooks for universities. She poured her heart into both her students and her science. That consistency, passion, and discipline left a deep mark on me and taught me that true discipline is quiet, steady, and full of purpose — and that’s the energy I bring into everything I do today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the founder of Matter of Monday, a skincare brand created for modern professionals. Before starting the company, I was a hedge fund CFO and experienced firsthand the effects of long screen hours, work stress, and digital fatigue on the skin.

That experience inspired me to build a line that focuses on prevention — not just correction.
Matter of Monday offers practical, science-backed skincare designed to prevent damage and restore balance to stressed, screen-exposed skin.

Our collection includes the Anti-Blue Light Brightening Serum, Anti-Stress Renewal Moisturizer, Anti-Fatigue Restorative Eye Cream, and Pore-Refining Exfoliating Cleanser. They are all preventive, restorative, fragrance-free, and gentle for sensitive skin.

Our philosophy is simple: protect your skin while you work. We’re redefining skincare as part of everyday wellness — for people who work hard and want their skin to thrive with them.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Perseverance, adaptability and people skills.

Perseverance has kept me going through every challenge — Entrepreneurship tests you in new ways every day, and consistency matters more than perfection.

Adaptability has been just as important. The landscape keeps changing, so staying open minded and quick to adapt is key.

And lastly, people skills — because no matter how good your product or vision is, you can’t build anything meaningful alone. Thoughtful collaboration, empathy and communication always compound in the long run.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

One book that deeply influenced me is Principles by Ray Dalio. Coming from a hedge fund background, I resonated with his emphasis on decision-making through clarity and honesty. One of his principles “Pain plus reflection equals progress” impacted me how I see challenges and mistakes. It taught me to treat every setback as feedback.

Another principle “Get the right people in the right seats”. Success depends less on doing everything yourself and more on building a team whose strengths complement yours — and aligning everyone toward shared principles.

Whether in finance or skincare, success is about aligning values, staying transparent, and constantly learning. Those lessons have guided me as I transitioned from CFO to founder, shaping how I lead and grow Matter of Monday today.
