Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jillian Sanders. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jillian with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I’ve always felt like my work ethic is a mix of nature and nurture. I come from a family where showing up and doing your best wasn’t optional; it was just what you did. My grandparents especially modeled consistency and strength. They didn’t talk about “discipline,” they just lived it day in and day out through decades of marriage, and doing whatever needed to be done without complaint. Some of that rubbed off, but part of it is also my own wiring. When I commit to something—whether it’s a client project or an essay—I want it to be great. I think that drive comes from equal parts pride, passion, and maybe a little bit of anxiety, if I’m being honest. There’s also a lot of gratitude: I get to do work I love, and I never take that for granted.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I wear a few creative hats, but at the heart of everything I do is storytelling. I run a PR firm that represents interior designers and lifestyle brands, helping them get their work seen and celebrated in the right places. There’s something very rewarding about championing other people’s creative visions and watching their stories come to life in print. Outside of PR, I’m also a writer. My essays have been featured in Oprah Daily, The Today Show, Molly My Magazine, and HuffPost, and I’m currently at work on my first book. What’s most exciting to me right now is the overlap between the two worlds I live in; storytelling through media and storytelling through personal narrative. Both require curiosity and a deep belief that every story has something to teach us.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’d say the three qualities that have mattered to me most are curiosity, resilience, and intuition.
Curiosity has always been my compass. It’s what led me to ask questions, chase stories, and build relationships; whether that’s with editors, clients, or readers. I think the best work, in any field, comes from genuine curiosity about people and why they do what they do. Resilience has been the throughline. Building a business and a creative career both come with rejection, pivots, and long stretches where you wonder if you’re getting anywhere. I’ve learned to keep going, to trust that consistency compounds over time even when the payoff isn’t immediate. And intuition has probably been the hardest and most important skill to strengthen. Every good decision I’ve made, in business or writing, has come from listening to that inner voice.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is this: stay curious, keep showing up even when it’s uncomfortable, and learn to trust yourself sooner.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely. Collaboration has always been at the heart of what I do. Through my PR work, I love partnering with editors, stylists, photographers, and especially interior designers whose work feels layered, original, and full of heart — people who bring depth into the spaces they create. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping those spaces find their audience and seeing creative visions come to life in media. On the writing side, I’m always open to connecting with other writers, editors, and creatives who are drawn to honest, human stories.
The best way to connect is through my website, www.jilliansanders.com, or on Instagram @jilliansanderspr. I love hearing from people who are creating, building, or simply curious about the same things I am.
