We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elisabeth Caraballo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Elisabeth with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I got my work ethic from my mom. Growing up, I watched her juggle multiple jobs, as a single mother raising two kids while always maintaining a positive attitude. She taught me the importance of dedication and perseverance, no matter the challenges I faced. Her ability to remain focused and work hard, even during tough times, instilled in me the value of determination and resilience. I carry those lessons with me in my professional life, always aiming for excellence and pushing myself to achieve my goals.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m an actress & founder of Travel Pass Media and World Backpack
I got started in acting taking classes at The Acting School of South Florida, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and Fort Hays State University. I have two theater acting credits one playing Margaret (lead) in The American Century and Hope in Say Something… at Fort Hays State University. I’m always auditioning and have a couple of fun projects in the works.
Travel Pass Media (FKA Travel Pass Magazine) is an independent travel website that features a variety of travel related content- from stories, lifestyle, interviews, news, must-haves, tips/tricks and more.
Our ultimate goal is to inspire everyone to live a travel life; a travel life that best suits them.
World Backpack is a non-profit organization founded in 2025. We provide backpacks filled with essential items (toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant etc.), clothes, shoes, and more to individuals around the world who have fallen on hard times due to personal struggles, financial hardship, natural disaster, war, victims of domestic violence and human trafficking etc.
World Backpack was founded by Elisabeth Caraballo. There are two experiences she had in her life that helped lead her to creating World Backpack. The first being traveling with a non-profit organization to Haiti in 2011 a year after a catastrophic earthquake hit. Elisabeth and her group toured the devastation left behind by the earthquake, saw rebuilding efforts, met locals, visited orphanages and donated items including clothes and shoes from Elisabeth’s Grandma that had passed away a few months prior to the trip.
The second was working as a Social Media Marketing and Events Intern for the non-profit organization The EDGE (Early Development of Global Education) in Miami, Florida. She helped with toy drives, visiting orphanages, filling backpacks with school supplies for underprivileged kids, helped teach a DSL (Discover, Science, Literacy) program, and organized events to help raise money for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
Elisabeth is no stranger to donating items to individuals in need and buying gifts for foster children and families from the Angel tree every year for christmas since she was a kid. She has also donated items to her local animal shelter and is a TNR caregiver for the cats in her community. These life experiences were eye opening in many ways and now Elisabeth is taking what she has learned and putting her heart and soul into her own non-profit, World Backpack.
World Backpack’s mission is to brighten the lives of individuals that have fallen on hard times. We do this through providing backpacks filled with essential items, clothes, shoes, and more.
I’m also currently working on launching another non-profit organization for all the fur-babies out there. Stay tuned!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that have been the most impactful for me on my journey are resilience, curiosity, and empathy.
Resilience has played a crucial role in navigating the challenges I faced. There were moments where setbacks felt overwhelming, but my ability to bounce back and learn from those experiences helped me grow and adapt.
Curiosity has also been a driving force in my journey. It pushed me to explore new ideas, seek out diverse perspectives, and embrace continuous learning. This quality enabled me to innovate and find creative solutions to problems.
Empathy has shaped my relationships and collaborations. Understanding and valuing other people’s experiences has not only strengthened my connections but also enriched my work. By fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, I believe we can achieve far more together.
My advice would be to connect with others and focus on what you can control. Always ask questions, explore new things and seek to understand different perspectives.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always eager to build new partnerships and collaborations! I’m particularly looking to connect with individuals in travel, lifestyle, entertainment (acting, directing, and producing), and non-profits (social impact and animal welfare).
