Meet Ramona Lee Soo-Jun

We recently connected with Ramona Lee Soo-Jun and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ramona, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

I always start with the end goal in mind—not just what I want to achieve, but how I want to feel once I get there. It’s like that idea of posting your goals online so others can hold you accountable, except I do that with myself.

The upside is that it keeps me motivated; I really don’t want to disappoint my future self. The downside is that sometimes I can get stuck chasing an old version of my goal, one that no longer fits who I’ve become.

I’ve learned to see that as a sign of progress. If your goals evolve, it usually means you have too. As an author, that’s part of the process: staying committed enough to finish what you start, but flexible enough to let the story—and yourself—grow along the way.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a German-Romanian novelist based in London, and I’ve been publishing since I was 14. My 13th book, GEORGE, is coming out in February 2026.

I love writing martial arts action comedies, but I’ve also written rom-coms and thrillers. No matter the genre, I can’t resist adding a bit of magical realism.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Stay consistent and make sure you’re enjoying what you’re doing. Writing can be tough, and there are days when you have to push through. But if you’re not having fun most of the time, maybe it’s not the right project, or even the right approach.

The other key is simply showing up. Sit down and write—badly, incoherently, whatever it takes. The magic happens through consistency. The more time you spend with the page, the better the words start to sound.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

That’s a great question! And funny enough, I’ve actually started living by that idea. Maybe it’s a bit of a quarter-life crisis, but whenever I’m juggling all the “shoulds”, I try to pause and ask myself: Will this really matter when I’m 80?

When I think about what I’ll actually remember, the highlights, it’s always the same things: spending time with the people I love, writing the stories I care about, and staying healthy enough to explore the world and experience it fully.

So if I only had ten years to live, I’d be doing exactly what I’m already doing, and that feels like the best sign that I’m on the right path.
