Meet Yvetka

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yvetka. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yvetka below.

Hi Yvetka, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from a mix of dedication, integrity, professionalism, and self-discipline. I put in consistent effort and keep going even on days when ideas feel quiet, when energy is low, or when other important aspects of life require attention. I approach my work with professionalism, and I understand the importance of being organized, striving to improve in that area over time. I take accountability for my work and my business, knowing that if I want it to succeed, I need to keep moving forward. Staying focused and motivated, even without supervision, allows me to explore, refine, and grow as an artist.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My artwork serves as a platform for expressing a profound passion for linguistics and philosophy. Through it, I aim to spark reflection and meaningful dialogue around life experiences and the values that shape us. I create abstract texture paintings with intentional titles, blending texture, color, and movement. My work lives in public spaces such as hotels and restaurants as well as in private collections through custom commissions. What excites me most about creating art is the opportunity to spark conversation and create connections both between people and with the world around us.

I am also thrilled to share something new. I am presenting a vernissage for my latest painting collection, Terra Nostra, in Saint-Lambert, Quebec. Terra Nostra celebrates the earth’s textures, colors, and natural forms. Each painting reveals a facet of our world, inviting viewers to notice the subtle beauty in the patterns and shapes around them. Through natural tones and textured surfaces, the collection encourages reflection and a deeper connection to the earth and to each other.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, there are three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey: dedication, curiosity, and self-discipline. Dedication has allowed me to keep creating and refining my work, even when ideas feel quiet or energy is low. Curiosity has driven me to explore new techniques, ideas, and ways to connect with people through art. Self-discipline has helped me stay focused and motivated, even without external supervision, and has been essential in turning inspiration into finished work.

For anyone early in their journey, I would suggest cultivating these qualities intentionally. Dedication grows through consistent practice and showing up for your work, even when it feels challenging. Curiosity develops by staying open to learning, asking questions, and experimenting without fear of mistakes. Self-discipline strengthens when you set clear goals, create routines, and hold yourself accountable, understanding that progress often comes in small, steady steps. These qualities don’t develop overnight, but nurturing them thoughtfully can make a lasting impact on your growth as an artist or in any creative pursuit.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

The person who has been most helpful in overcoming challenges and developing the skills and qualities I needed is myself. I have a deep passion for becoming a better version of who I am. I often take time to reflect on how I live my life, the choices I make, and the direction I want to go. I believe in myself and in the idea that the more I put in consistent effort, the more opportunities seem to come my way. I don’t rely on luck; I rely on hard work and dedication. This self-reflection helps me grow, stay focused, and continuously improve both as an artist and as a person.
