Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jessica, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from a combination of self-reliance, curiosity, and a willingness to figure things out as I go. I’m completely self-taught, so I’ve learned to embrace challenges as part of the creative process. Every new project—whether it’s a live event, a branding shoot, or a campaign—has pushed me to adapt quickly, learn new techniques, and trust my instincts.
In photography, credibility often comes from experience, but I’ve never let that hold me back. Instead, I’ve built mine through persistence, consistency, and the ability to deliver under pressure. I believe that being resourceful and staying open to growth are just as valuable as formal training. When things don’t go as planned (and they often don’t in this line of work), I focus on problem-solving and staying composed—because creativity thrives when you refuse to give up.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I focus primarily on building my business through brand, product, and event photography. What excites me most is the storytelling aspect—being able to capture the emotion, energy, and authenticity behind a brand or moment. Photography has always been my way of connecting with people and helping them see the value in what they do. I love watching others grow alongside me because, truthfully, you can’t do this alone.
I’m also the Vice President of a local nonprofit made up of an incredible team of creatives—film editors, producers, marketing specialists, business owners, and so many inspiring minds. Working with them keeps my creativity alive and challenges me to keep testing new concepts. That collaboration fuels my personal growth and strengthens the artistic side of my business.
At the heart of Light+Lens Media, my mission is to create work that feels authentic and impactful—images that tell stories, spark emotion, and help others truly stand out. Whether it’s a brand looking to establish its identity, a product that needs personality, or an event that deserves to be remembered, I’m passionate about bringing those visions to life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The first would be management and problem-solving skills. I spent many years in management before transitioning into photography, and that experience taught me how to stay calm under pressure. When things don’t go as planned — and they rarely do in creative work — being able to think quickly, adapt, and make clear decisions without panicking is everything.
The second is resourcefulness. I’m completely self-taught, so I’ve learned through asking questions, experimenting, watching tutorials, and getting hands-on. The best way to grow is to stay curious — don’t wait for permission or the “perfect” moment to start learning. Dive in and figure it out as you go.
And finally, learning to handle rejection has been a huge part of my growth. It’s never easy, but I’ve learned to use it as fuel instead of a setback. Every “no” is just a redirection toward something better or a reminder to keep pushing harder.
My biggest advice for anyone early in their journey is to get out there and connect with people. Networking is powerful — you never know who you might meet or who needs what you have to offer. Building genuine relationships opens doors you didn’t even know existed. Stay adaptable, keep learning, and surround yourself with people who inspire you — that’s where the real growth happens.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely! I’d love to collaborate with more major brands, concerts, and large-scale events — especially those that value storytelling and authenticity in their visuals. My passion lies in capturing the real, unscripted moments that connect people to a story, whether it’s a brand campaign, a live performance, or a community experience.
I’m also open to partnering with sponsors and collaborators from anywhere who share a love for creativity and connection. Through my nonprofit work, we host events that bring together filmmakers, photographers, musicians, and other artists to collaborate, inspire, and grow. Having sponsors and creative partners who believe in that mission allows us to expand those opportunities — not just locally, but across the creative industry as a whole.
Anyone interested in collaborating can reach out directly through Light+Lens Media or connect with me on Instagram @lightandlensmedia_ or by email at [email protected]. I’m always excited to explore new partnerships that spark creativity, build community, and tell stories that matter.
