Meet LRD. TRILL

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful LRD. TRILL. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with LRD. TRILL below.

LRD. TRILL, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I am constantly finding new ways to invent my sound. I remember when I first started creating music, I had no direction or even knowledge of how to record. I needed time to figure it out. Luckily I had time to develop my craft with members of a group called Ward 3. We formed a collective like Wu Tang and it was there where I learned more about the music business, recording, composition, engineering, and producing. I was fresh out of college and looking to figure out my career. Music has always been something I was drawn to. I constantly am inspired by conversations I have as well as relationships, daily people I meet, random words spoken in passing. All of it sounds like music to me. I could never run out of ideas.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hello readers,

I am LRD. TRILL. I originally was born in Louisiana and moved to New Jersey when I was young. I was influenced by music at an extremely young age. The artists whom I fell in love with were Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Flatbush Zombies and many more. I even joined choir in middle school and high school as well. The most exciting thing for me is being able to create freely with no restrictions. I love when people can connect with my music on a personal level. What’s special about me is the way that I can blend hip hop with R&b. I not only can do that but I also am a talented writer and an engineer as well as graphic designer. I’m excited to share that I’m releasing a project on November 5th under my label 4 DA LOST SOULS ENT. The EP is called Far From Perfect. This is a collection of songs depicting that we all are rough around the edges but should be accepted no matter the journey or song.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The most impactful things looking back on my journey were definitely confidence (and I know some people might read this and say obviously but it’s not as easy as people think). As a kid I was always made fun of for the shade of my skin color and in that I found strength to overcome challenges every day, instilling complete confidence in myself. I’m grateful for every name thrown my way. I also developed the knowledge of writing earlier on in my music career. I stand out because of the lyrics that I write and how they are presented on any song that I’ve created. I would give people the advice of going for what they want and never settling just because someone doesn’t believe in you. Have the confidence to chase your passions no matter what the world is saying to you. The biggest stars are ones that shine the brighter no matter the climate.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Definitely looking to collaborate with more folks this year. Even though the year is ending sooner than later, never too late to throw out that disclaimer. I also am open to partnering and creating entire bodies of work. I personally want to release a lot of my musical energy into the universe. I’m hoping to connect with anyone and everyone no matter the skill level. I believe talent is talent. On all platforms and DSP’s my name is LRD. TRILL. All social media handles are the same.
