We were lucky to catch up with Brittany Watson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittany, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose by spending intentional time with God. In that quiet space, He revealed who I was and what He called me to do—help the next generation of young women embrace their authentic selves, discover their purpose, and walk boldly in who they’re created to be.
For years, I struggled with self-doubt and low self-esteem. But everything began to shift when I took a small group class at church called Walking in Wholeness. Through that class, God uncovered the pain, insecurities, and barriers that were keeping me from fully knowing Him—and from seeing myself the way He does.
After that experience, I launched Classy Chick Chat, which began as a conference for young women ages 13–30. What started as a simple space for honest “girl talk” about self-worth, relationships, and real-life issues like STDs and STIs quickly became something far deeper. During our very first conference, one young girl found the courage to tell her mother that her mother’s boyfriend had been molesting her. In that moment, I knew without a doubt what my calling was.
God made it clear that my purpose is to change the lives and direction of young women—to show them they’re not alone, that they can overcome, and that they have someone in their corner who understands. I’m committed to being real, transparent, and unfiltered while guiding them toward healing, wholeness, and a deeper relationship with Christ.
God knew exactly who to appoint for this journey, and I’m forever grateful that He chose me—and continues to choose me—to do this work.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As the Founder and CEO of Classy Chick Chat, a nonprofit organization, I’m passionate about empowering the next generation of young women to embrace their authentic selves, discover their purpose, and walk boldly in who they’re created to be. Through mentoring, workshops, summer camps, and conferences, we create safe spaces for girls to grow in confidence, faith, and leadership.
What’s most exciting about what I do is watching transformation happen in real time. There’s nothing like seeing a young woman walk into one of our programs shy and uncertain, and then watching her leave with her head held high — knowing she’s worthy, capable, and chosen. Those moments remind me why I do this work and why it matters so much.
Right now, my main focus is growing Classy Chick Chat and expanding our programs into Detroit Public Schools and Oakland County Schools so we can reach even more youth. I’m so excited about what’s ahead — 2026 is shaping up to be a big year! We’re planning new workshops, summer camps, and conferences, and we’ll also be launching a boys division to offer the same kind of mentorship and guidance for young men.
It’s an exciting season of growth, and I’m grateful every day that God allows me to do this work — to pour into the next generation and help them walk confidently in their calling.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that have made the biggest impact on my journey are faith, perseverance, and empathy.
Faith is really the foundation of everything for me. It’s what keeps me grounded and reminds me that I’m not doing this on my own. There were so many times I didn’t have all the answers, but trusting God and His timing gave me the courage to keep moving forward. My advice to anyone starting out would be to take time to get quiet, listen, and trust that what’s meant for you will come when it’s supposed to.
Perseverance has also been huge. Building something meaningful doesn’t happen overnight. There were moments when I questioned if I was making a difference or if things would ever come together. But I’ve learned that even small steps forward matter. So, don’t give up — keep showing up, even when it’s hard.
And then there’s empathy. That’s what allows me to truly connect with the girls I mentor. Being able to listen, understand, and create a safe space for them has been such a blessing. For anyone wanting to grow in this area, I’d say slow down and really see people. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply be present and let someone know they’re not alone.
Those three qualities — faith, perseverance, and empathy — continue to guide me every day in how I lead and love through Classy Chick Chat.
