We recently connected with Litzy Valencia and have shared our conversation below.
Litzy, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from the resilience I’ve built over time through different experiences and the people I’ve met. Every challenge or connection has taught me something—some opened doors I never expected, and others taught me lessons I didn’t know I needed.
I’ve always been someone who moves on from things quickly or looks for a solution fast, and I think a lot of that comes from being the oldest of three in a Hispanic household. You learn to figure things out, stay grounded, and carry yourself with patience and responsibility. It’s something that taught me how to adapt and keep pushing forward, even when things don’t go as planned.
People often ask how I stay positive, and honestly, it’s because I’ve learned that every experience—good or bad—has a reason behind it. That’s where my optimism really comes from: knowing that even the hardest moments can lead to growth.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a photo and video editor, filmmaker, and storyteller — someone who’s always been drawn to capturing raw, authentic moments. What started as a simple high school English assignment quickly became a passion I couldn’t ignore. I realized I loved the process of connecting with people through visuals, finding the honesty in fleeting moments, and turning them into something lasting. Every project is a chance to meet someone new, learn their story, and preserve a little piece of life through my lens.
What excites me most about my work is the balance between creativity and connection. It’s not just about making an image or a video look “cool”—it’s about creating something that feels alive, real, and personal. That’s also the energy I want to bring to my brand, Lonely Fools. It’s more than just photography and film; it’s about building a community for creatives who are optimistic, clever, and full of energy, a space where people genuinely support each other and celebrate authenticity.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding both sides of my work — continuing to collaborate with models, photographers, and other creatives while laying the foundation for my dream clothing brand. I want to create experiences and products that resonate with people the same way my visuals do: personal, thoughtful, and unapologetically real.
Lonely Fools is always evolving, and I’m excited for what’s next — more projects, more collaborations, and more moments captured that reflect life in all its messy, beautiful honesty.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three things have shaped my journey the most: resilience, curiosity, and connection.
Resilience comes from pushing through self-doubt and those moments where you question if your passion is “practical.” Honestly, it’s about learning to keep going, even when it’s messy or uncomfortable. My advice? Don’t be afraid to make mistakes—they’re just part of figuring out your path.
Curiosity has been my compass. I’ve always been the type to tinker, experiment, and learn on my own terms, whether it’s with camera settings, editing, or anything new. If you’re starting out, lean into curiosity. Try things, break things, and let the process teach you more than any guide ever could.
The connections give it all purpose—the moments shared, the lessons learned, the people who show up and stay. Every person you meet adds something to your story—the collaborators who teach you, the friends who grow with you, and the ones who inspire you in ways I can’t put into words. I’ve been lucky to meet people along the way who’ve become real friends, who remind me why I do what I do and keep me reaching for more. Grateful for every real connection and the unexpected moments that make it all worth it.
For me, resilience, curiosity, and connection aren’t just skills—they’re habits that carry me forward. If you nurture them, they’ll carry you far too, both creatively and personally.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Right now, my biggest challenge is staying consistent. My head’s all over the place—jumping between projects, ideas, and goals—which makes it hard to keep a routine going. Honestly, I get a little embarrassed about it because of my age, like I should have it all figured out by now. But I also remind myself—we all gotta start somewhere.
To work through it, I’ve been building a routine that keeps me focused without killing my creativity. I break my day into blocks for editing, planning, and personal growth, and I’m learning to prioritize what actually moves me forward instead of getting distracted. It’s a work in progress, but even small steps toward consistency have made a big difference in how I approach my work and my goals with Lonely Fools.
