We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eugene Han. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eugene below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Eugene with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I believe my work ethic comes from a strong sense of discipline and a commitment to always giving my best effort. From a young age, I learned the importance of taking every task seriously, no matter how big or small. I strive to give 100% in everything I do, whether it’s academic work, professional responsibilities, or personal goals. To me, working hard isn’t just about achieving results—it’s about pride in the process, being dependable, and pushing myself to grow. This mindset motivates me to stay focused, manage my time well, and consistently follow through on my commitments. Ultimately, my work ethic is driven by the desire to meet high standards I set for myself and to always improve.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m an orthodontist and the owner of Beyond Braces, an orthodontic practice established in 2023 in Sachse, Texas. One of the honors I’m most grateful for is being selected as D Magazine’s Best Dentist in Dallas for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025), which reflects our dedication to excellence and patient care. What sets our office apart is our commitment to delivering high-quality orthodontic treatment while staying deeply personal and patient-focused.
We didn’t want to become just another busy dental office where there are 15 people waiting, and patients only see the doctor for a few rushed seconds. Instead, we designed a space where people feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. We take time to connect with our patients—talking about life, laughing together, sometimes even crying together—and we grow alongside them throughout their orthodontic journey.
At Beyond Braces, our goal is not only to create beautiful smiles but to give our patients something “beyond” that—confidence, comfort, and a sense of belonging. As we continue to grow, we’re excited to expand our reach and services while staying true to our values of quality, compassion, and meaningful relationships.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Honesty has shaped the way I build relationships with patients, colleagues, and even with myself. When your words consistently align with your actions, people learn they can trust and rely on you. Being honest isn’t always the easiest path—especially when the truth is uncomfortable—but it builds a foundation of trust, and trust is essential for any meaningful relationship or successful career. For those early in their journey, I recommend practicing honesty in small, everyday moments. Over time, integrity becomes part of your character.
Resilience is another quality I’m deeply grateful for. In any path you choose, you will face challenges—failed attempts, long hours, disappointment, or self-doubt. But struggle builds character. Just like training a muscle, mental strength grows with practice. Instead of avoiding difficulties, face them, learn from them, and keep moving forward. The earlier you embrace resilience, the easier life becomes, because you no longer fear setbacks—you view them as opportunities to grow.
Confidence, to me, isn’t about believing you’re perfect; it’s about believing you’re capable of learning, improving, and figuring things out. Confidence gives you the courage to take risks, make decisions, and stand by your values. For those just starting out, confidence develops from preparation, small wins, and consistently stepping slightly outside your comfort zone. At the same time, it’s important to avoid overconfidence. True confidence is grounded in ability and self-awareness. Knowing the balance—believing in yourself while continuing to grow and stay humble—is a crucial part of the journey.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
One book that has had a huge impact on my personal and professional growth is Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins. I’ve even mentioned Goggins as my “spirit animal” in a previous interview, and I truly mean it. The book taught me that many of the mental hurdles we face are self-imposed, and that discipline, resilience, and pushing beyond discomfort can unlock far more of our potential than we often realize.
One of the biggest lessons I took from the book is that pain and struggle aren’t signals to stop—they’re opportunities to grow. Goggins’ emphasis on accountability and mental toughness has helped me approach challenges in life and in building my practice with focus and persistence. Can’t Hurt Me reinforced the idea that our limits are often much farther away than we think, and that with consistency and grit, we can achieve more than we imagined.
