Meet John Trigg

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to John Trigg. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

John, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

I Like to travel to different countries, which gives me a different perspective on how other people live. It makes me grateful for what I have and don’t have.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As the Audio Visual Manager for five film festivals across the globe, I find immense value in hearing the experiences of other storytellers. It’s a powerful reminder of our shared humanity.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

With my Engineering background I am able to cobble together just about anything. This is great for working on festivals and independent film sets. I always want to be prepared for any mishaps. I advise my colleagues to keep working on what they are passionate about. My oldest film festival is celebrating its 10th year. I didn’t think that I would get this far, but here I am.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents instilled within me a strong work ethic. That my word is my bond. They taught me to alway be the first to arrive and the last to leave when working different jobs. To treat others with respect, and to lead with kindness first, then by example.
