Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Staci & Kara. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Staci &, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
We found our purpose through the connection between yoga, nature, and community. Day Tripping Retreats with Staci & Kara was born from that shared realization—that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated, expensive, or far away to be deeply meaningful. We both felt called to create something grounded and approachable, where people could pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves in just one day.
Our purpose revealed itself in those quiet, sacred moments outdoors—flowing beneath a canopy of trees, pausing beside a stream, or hiking through the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee. The balance between movement and stillness, between grounding our feet on the earth and expanding our breath to the sky, continues to remind us why we do this work. Helping others find that same sense of clarity, calm, and connection—one trail, one day, one breath at a time—is the heart of our purpose and the soul of Day Tripping Retreats.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At Day Tripping Retreats, we create one-day wellness experiences that weave together yoga, nature, and mindful connection. Our retreats are designed for anyone craving a reset—a chance to step away from the noise of everyday life and return to the simplicity of the present moment. We love offering an alternative to the traditional multi-day retreat by creating something more approachable, yet equally restorative and soul-filling.
What makes Day Tripping so special is the blend of movement, stillness, and nature. From flowing through yoga beneath the trees to sharing laughter over lunch or grounding through meditation by the water, each retreat is an opportunity to reconnect—with yourself, with others, and with the earth. The beauty of it is that it all happens in a single day, right here in the heart of Middle Tennessee.
Our mission is simple: to make wellness accessible and meaningful. We want people to leave feeling lighter, inspired, and more in tune with themselves and the natural world around them. It’s amazing how just one day outdoors can shift your perspective and fill your heart—one trail, one community, one deep breath at a time.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Meet the faces behind Day Tripping Retreats:
We’re Kara and Staci—two friends who love yoga, nature, community, and meaningful connections. Through our own journeys, we’ve found healing in these practices and want to share that experience with the world.
Staci, E-RYT 200, Reiki Practitioner
Staci is a true Nashville native who loves all things outdoors and being connected to this magical place called Earth. Her first encounter with yoga was during high school gym class, where she fell in love with how it made her feel both physically and mentally. Staci received her 200-hour teacher certification in 2020 and has been teaching ever since. Yoga has saved her life in many ways. She is also a certified yin instructor, reiki practitioner, and photographer. When she’s not practicing yoga, Staci can be found spending time with her family and friends, most likely exploring the outdoors, attending a concert, or photographing life’s magical moments.
Kara, E-RYT 500, YACEP Standup Paddle board- Level 1, SUP Yoga
Kara’s love for yoga took her by surprise. She was first introduced to yoga in 2009 after complications from a surgery which caused severe damage to her inner ear. Doesn’t seem like much, but when your inner ear is destroyed, your equilibrium is also destroyed. Through yoga she was able to re-train her brain into creating balance, and then realized yoga was not only powerful and strong, but spiritual practice. It wasn’t until a couple years later she realized what she was learning on the mat was flowing into her everyday life. Yoga has taught her balance, both figuratively and literally. Kara completed her initial 200hr teacher training in 2015, and completed her 500hr in 2023. She is certified in Vinyasa, Power yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Restorative yoga, Adaptive yoga and Prenatal Yoga. In addition, she is certified as a Stand Up Paddleboard instructor, level 1 and SUP yoga.
Kara’s intention is to create a space for those to explore and challenge themselves both physically and mentally in hopes of establishing a balance they can carry with them on and off the mat. Outside of yoga, Kara runs a couple of small businesses with her husband. She is a free- spirit, that is continuously learning and trying new adventures.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Two of our main challenges include finding a suitable space for yoga sessions and ensuring access to an accessible hiking trail. Another consideration is securing a venue at a responsible price point to prevent costs from being passed down to participants. We are committed to keeping the cost of our retreats affordable, making these experiences accessible to everyone.
