We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Monty Scudder. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Monty below.
Monty, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from a place of connection. For eleven years, I have volunteered at Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center, filming and producing performance videos for Alice Cooper’s Proof is in the Pudding musical talent search. What I do is fill a need — to help artists be seen and to give families something lasting to hold onto.
I call it hope in the palm of my hand for selfish reasons. The hope comes from watching young artists find their voice. The selfish part is that their joy fills me, too. My generosity is not about giving something away; it is about sharing in something real — a moment that reminds us why we create, why we show up, and why it matters to remember.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a video producer who loves capturing live music performances. There is a kind of magic being there—feeling the energy of the crowd, the rhythm, the nerves, the joy—and knowing I get to help preserve that moment. Through my work with Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers, I have met so many talented young artists, families, and dedicated volunteers. Each project reminds me why I started doing this in the first place: to tell stories, to celebrate creativity, and to give people lasting memories

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being part of a live production means being ready for anything. Working with others and really listening is key, especially when things go south — which happens a lot in live music. You learn to adapt, to solve problems fast, and still find a way to capture the moment. For me, it is all about honoring the creative freedom of the artists and letting their energy come through on screen. My best advice to anyone starting out is simple: listen and watch. Study your craft, but do not forget to enjoy the journey.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I first met Randy Spencer several years ago when I started filming the Proof is in the Pudding. From the start, he became my go-to guy for everything rock-and-roll. Randy works with Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers through community partnerships, and his guidance has been invaluable behind the scenes. With over 30 years in the music industry, he has represented Grammy Award–winning and multi-platinum recording artists, songwriters, and producers. Beyond his impressive resume, what stands out most is his passion for nurturing talent and connecting people to the music community—it is infectious, and it is why working alongside him has been such a highlight of my journey.
“I love working with Monty Scudder. His video work has been a highly valuable resource to create opportunities for youth with Alice Cooper’s non-profit teen centers to perform in the community – even opening for ZZ Top, Sammy Hagar, Skillet, Collective Soul, P.O.D., Jackson Browne, Social Distortion, Jordin Sparks and many others. In addition, I have been blessed to create a long friendship with Monty and his wife. He has a heart of gold and he shares a passion with me of loving hockey, pinball and cheesesteak sandwiches and seeking God’s best for our daily lives.”
