Meet Marisol Jenkins

We were lucky to catch up with Marisol Jenkins recently and have shared our conversation below.

Marisol , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Since I was a child, I’ve always been drawn to creating things with my hands. Growing up in Mexico, I learned different crafts — from sewing to hair styling — and discovered early on how much joy it brings me to turn ideas into something tangible.

When I started working with flowers, it came very naturally to me. It felt like everything I had learned before — every craft, every creative moment — led me to that point. Becoming a florist allows me to combine art, emotion, and nature into one.

I’ve always been a little out of the ordinary — I love challenges and the process of figuring out something complex. Every day brings something new to conquer, and each challenge feeds my soul. Creating floral designs lets me express that artistic side and my love for uniqueness. It’s not just a job for me — it’s how I connect with beauty, creativity, and purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

In the beginning, my focus was on designing weddings professionally. Those experiences built my confidence, strengthened my mindset, and taught me the value of dedication and hard work. The long hours and challenges shaped me into who I am today — they showed me that I can truly accomplish anything I set my mind to.

Now, my focus is on creating happiness for each customer and offering the best floral designs in Santa Clarita. I take pride in serving any event or occasion that comes my way and rarely turn down an inquiry. Every arrangement is a chance to serve others.

Beyond my work, I love to travel. After more than 25 years in the floral industry, I continue to find inspiration everywhere I go. My daughter, who works alongside me, and I make it a point to visit local flower shops in every country we explore. Seeing how others express beauty through flowers opens my mind and helps me shape my own unique style — one that reflects both my journey and the world around me.

Every day, we’re brainstorming new ways to better serve our community and keep things fresh and inspiring. We’ve introduced creative offerings like group floral workshops, and our new “Weekly Fresh Drop” — a Florist’s Handpicked Bouquet featuring the best seasonal blooms of the week. We also love hosting local vendor and flower market events at our shop that bring together flowers, plants, and community.

Our offerings have also expanded to include silk and faux floral arrangements, collectible antique vases, unique home décor, and plant designs. Each new idea is a way for us to connect more deeply with our customers and keep our creativity blooming. Recently, we collaborated with a local coffee shop to create a custom “coffee and bouquet bag” — a surprise delivery that combined fresh flowers and a fresh drink for someone’s special day. We’re now exploring ways to expand that idea into a cheerful “pick-me-up” service for our customers.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Faith and persistence have been the foundation of my journey. They helped me push through challenges — including three recessions — and reminded me never to give up, no matter how tough things got.

Good morals and honesty have also been essential. I’ve always believed in offering fair pricing and genuine value rather than taking advantage of customers. Integrity in business builds lasting trust, and that’s something I take pride in.

Lastly, punctuality and reliability have made all the difference. Being on time and dependable shows respect for people’s time and trust — qualities that turn first-time clients into lifelong customers.

my advice for folks early in their journey is to start from the bottom and learn every step of the process. Begin with the basics — prepping and greening vases, then understanding color theory, and then learning the true cost and value of the flowers so you know how to price your work fairly — to balance creativity with business. When you know the value of your time, materials, and artistry, you can create a sustainable career and grow with confidence.. Take your time to study the seasons of each flower and where they come from. Understanding the seasons of flowers and where they come from strengthens your ability to consult with clients and create designs that truly meet their needs.

And most importantly, be patient with yourself. Don’t rush your work — take the time to learn, make mistakes, and grow. Every arrangement, every challenge, and every new skill will shape your craft and bring you closer to mastering your art.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

It’s impossible to run a flower shop alone, and my daughter has been an incredible partner in building our business. She has helped shape everything from branding to marketing campaigns for every occasion, season, and holiday. While I focus on designing, she takes care of our customers and is the face of the store — together, we work as a true team. Her fresh perspective, creativity, and understanding of both traditional and modern trends have been invaluable in developing new products, services, and ways to connect with customers of all ages.
