We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Danyella Terrell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Danyella, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I believe my purpose found me. I considered my childhood to be challenging. We didn’t have much but there were always people there to help us. This planted the desire to help in me. Every challenge, setback, and closed door pushed me closer to what I was truly called to do. I’ve always had a heart for helping people, but it wasn’t until I started doing the hard inner work and listening to God that I realized just how He wanted to use me. My purpose has evolved through obedience, not perfection.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
That’s always such a fun but layered question because I wear a few hats! At my core, I’m a mom, friend, therapist, business owner, and advocate for mental wellness and purpose. I own Beyond the Brokenness Mental Wellness Solutions, a mental health practice that helps individuals and families heal, grow, and thrive. From that work, I created the Beyond the Brokenness Mental Wellness Foundation, a nonprofit that focuses on providing mental wellness services and resources to underserved, uninsured, and underinsured communities.
Before the mental wellness clinic, was my love for retail and fashion. Through Berry Boujee Boutique, I get to remind people that confidence starts on the inside but shines through in how you show up. It’s about empowerment, expression, and self-love, not just clothes. What’s most exciting about what I do is that every piece of it connects back to impact. Whether it’s helping someone find their voice in therapy, seeing someone light up in an outfit that makes them feel powerful, or hosting a community event, it all ties back to restoring hope.
We’ve been blessed to host several incredible events. Most recently our Building Resilience Conferences (in partnership with Diff3r3ntMentality LLC), which bring people together to talk about resilience mental wellness and practical healing; our upcoming Pancake Breakfast this December; and the Mental Health Gala February 2026, which celebrates progress and raises funds for the foundation. These events aren’t just gatherings they’re opportunities for connection, education, and breaking stigma around mental health.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about my brand and my work, it’s that everything I do comes from a place of purpose and service. I believe in blending professionalism with authenticity. Faith, fashion, and mental wellness can coexist beautifully when your heart’s in the right place.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For me, it comes down to integrity, passion, and purpose. Integrity has kept me grounded. In business, leadership, and life, your name and your character matter more than anything else. Passion keeps the fire lit. It’s what keeps you showing up when things get hard, when people don’t understand your vision, or when you’re running on empty. And purpose. That’s the “why.” It is what ties it all together and reminds me that I’m not just working for myself, but for the people I’m called to serve, for the future.
I’d tell anyone, be honest with yourself about what you want, what you value, and what you’re willing to commit to. That’s integrity. And definitely, stay curious and open to learning, even when you don’t have all the answers. That’s how you feed your passion. And most importantly, pray hard and often, and pay attention. Purpose doesn’t always come in a loud voice; sometimes it’s revealed in quiet moments of obedience and small steps of faith.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely. We are always open to collaborations with individuals, organizations, and funding sources that share a genuine passion for improving mental wellness access. Our mission isn’t just about treatment, it’s about management, prevention, and community awareness. If we can make mental wellness services accessible for everyone, we can transform how our communities function and thrive.
