Meet Gabriel Perez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gabriel Perez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Gabriel, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

For me, it’s about being open to new experiences. There were times when I felt stuck in a loop, repeating patterns in my work or losing motivation because nothing felt new in my life. But whenever I step outside of that bubble, whether it’s traveling to another country, reading a new book/comics, dancing like nobody’s watching at a techno rave at 5 AM, or participating in an art expo, I feel a spark of creativity come back.

I think routine is important for building discipline as an artist, especially when juggling multiple projects. But it’s just as important to leave room to explore the world. It’s a lot bigger than the little bubbles we sometimes make for ourselves.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Hello, my name is Gabriel G. Perez, and I’m a Concept Artist and Illustrator. I’m the creative mind behind GGP CREATES, my personal art and design studio, where I specialize in concept art, illustration, and pre-visualization designs. If you have an idea in your head that you want to see brought to life through beautiful artwork, that’s where I come in!

I’ve had the opportunity to work across several industries, including cruise and travel, video games, virtual and augmented reality experiences, heavy metal bands, comic books, and merch design—just to name a few.

What excites me most is collaborating with clients to transform their creative visions into engaging visuals through my artistic experience and design sensibilities. You can explore my portfolio and social media to see the range of art and design projects I’ve created under GGP CREATES.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Confidence. Looking back at my early career, I lacked confidence in my abilities as an artist and designer, even when others saw potential in me and gave me opportunities. I would constantly compare myself to other artists and second-guess my work. Over time, through experience and seeing the results of my projects, I learned to trust my creative instincts. My advice: be confident in your abilities, no matter where you are on your journey. You don’t need to have every skill mastered right away—focus on doing your best and let each project build your confidence and experience.

Personal Projects. There were times when I felt burned out working on client projects that didn’t always match my personal interests. I’ve found that working on personal art or design projects, no matter how small, keeps my creativity alive. Sometimes it’s just sketching ideas in my sketchbook, and other times those ideas evolve into finished illustrations, T-shirt designs, or framed artworks to hang at home. The best part is that personal projects often attract clients who resonate with your style and passions. That’s happened to me, and it’s one of the most rewarding outcomes of staying true to your creative voice.

Connection. I used to think I had to be a lone wolf when it came to creating, but I’ve learned that connecting with other artists, designers, and creatives is invaluable. While online communities are great, nothing beats meeting people in person—whether it’s at a local art meet-up, gallery show, or convention. You never know who you’ll meet or what opportunities might come from simply showing up and sharing your work.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

“From heavy metal and comic books to fantasy art, monsters, and sword & sorcery—GGP CREATES is always looking to collaborate on bold, imaginative projects. Whether it’s band merch, album art, or illustration, I love teaming up with people who share a passion for storytelling and creativity.

If you’ve got a project idea that needs striking visuals, let’s talk! Reach out at [email protected]
—I’d love to hear your ideas and see how we can bring them to life together.”
