Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jessica Divine of DMV

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jessica Divine. Check out our conversation below.

Jessica, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
As someone who is very adventurous and gets bored easily, I love to explore two to three new hobbies every year. It keeps my mind nimble and helps to expand my worldview. This year, I’ve taken singing lessons, boxing classes, and will be enrolling in a leatherwork class before the end of the year. My hobbies bring me joy. I discontinued the singing lessons after 5 months, but kept up the boxing lessons and I’m looking forward to the leatherwork classes. I believe in trying new things and discovering what you like and what you don’t like. Every experience is a learning experience and helps to refine your perspective.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Jessica Divine, the founder of Herbal Renaissance, a holistic health and wellness company. Herbal Renaissance strives to connect people back to Mother Nature, their bodies, and their own empowerment. We accomplish this by educating people about herbalism, plants, holistic health, and by offering herbal teas and supplements to support their health journey. I believe “Healing Can Be Delicious”. Therefore, my herbal blends are crafted not only to be medicinal but also a sensually fulfilling experience. I crafted these blends for my own health journey where I reversed my diabetes and rid myself of chronic allergies, eczema, and obesity. Through my own journey, I realized people are more than likely to ‘stick with it’ when the process is more enjoyable. Thus, Herbal Renaissance was birthed.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Over the past two years I’ve had to confront my fear of being seen. Obviously, as a business owner with a social media presence, this was not beneficial for growth. This fear of being seen was not only a stronghold from my childhood which was riddled with abuse, rejection, and bullying. It was also ancestral, where “being seen” as a powerful woman had detrimental consequences. This fear served a purpose in my childhood and even with my ancestors. It kept them safe in unsafe environments. However, it was time for me to release that fear from my nervous system and DNA. It’s my time to be seen in all of my glory. I am safe and always will be. I am free to shine brightly and to be celebrated. I was born to be seen. I was born to be loved and celebrated.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
My childhood was rough. However, I truly believe my stepfather was one of my guardian angels. As a child that felt unheard, unwanted, and rejected by everyone, he was one of the people that took time to listen to my concerns and opinions. He would answer my 1000’s of questions to the best of his ability. As well, he would ask me my opinion about different current events and give me great questions to help me think deeper. One day he gave me some wisdom that I still live by today. During one of our debates about a current event he said “Jessica, it’s not about what you believe, it’s about why you believe it . Always know your why and be able to explain it clearly when asked about it.” I consider that some of the wisest words I’ve heard til this day.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I believe that being your authentic self is the most sustainable and fulfilling way to present yourself. So yes, the public me is the real me. There is no one I would rather be than myself. I have so much admiration and radical self acceptance and love for myself. Being the real you is not only sustainable long term, but it also draws people and opportunities that are truly in alignment with the authentic you.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want to be remembered as “A Sovereign Woman Who Reminded Others of Their Own Sovereignty.” Like Harriet Tubman, whom I greatly admire, I want to free people
— not simply from physical bondage, but from mental and spiritual limitations. My mission is to help people live abundantly in every area of life: mental, physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual. I want others to know Heaven on Earth is possible when you align with your soul purpose.
