An Inspired Chat with Danii

We recently had the chance to connect with Danii and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Danii, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Honestly, the thing I’m most proud of building is the version of myself that nobody really gets to see. The inner work, the growth, the healing, and the self-awareness that happen behind the scenes. I’ve been intentional about learning myself on deeper levels, facing the uncomfortable things that come with growth, and finding peace in the process. It’s the quiet evolving, the one that doesn’t make it to social media, that I’m most proud of.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Danii is a recording artist, songwriter, and sound healer whose work bridges soulful R&B and emotional healing. Her music blends rich vocals with intention and depth, creating space for listeners to feel, reflect, and reconnect with themselves.

In addition to her artistry, Danii is also a licensed therapist, weaving her understanding of healing and self-awareness into everything she creates. She’s especially excited about her upcoming single *Back to Me*, releasing this fall, which will precede her second full-length project—a body of work inspired by alchemy, transforming pain into art and exploring the fusion of sounds, emotions, and transformation.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memories of feeling powerful came in a few different forms. At first, it was through academics, winning awards, receiving recognition, and realizing that my effort and curiosity could create something to be proud of. Later, that same feeling showed up in a deeper way when I created my first song from start to finish. It was powerful to turn emotions that once felt heavy into something beautiful and tangible.

I also felt that same energy the first time I performed on stage as a dancer. The nerves, the preparation, and then the rush of knowing I gave it my all—that moment reminded me what confidence and power feel like. Each of those experiences, in their own way, taught me that my power shows up when I create, express, and allow myself to be fully seen.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I’ve learned that suffering and success are deeply intertwined. Suffering taught me lessons that success alone never could. It showed me that much of my pain came from resisting what is, from struggling to accept life as it unfolds. When I learned to practice radical acceptance and trust God’s timing, I started to see that peace doesn’t come from avoiding suffering but from facing it with faith and honesty.

I also realized that my old idea of success was causing me unnecessary pain. Chasing external validation or trying to impress society kept me disconnected from my own truth. Suffering taught me to redefine success as inner alignment and spiritual peace. Now, success for me is about being grounded, authentic, and in alignment with God’s purpose for my life.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’d say the public version of me is a very real part of who I am, but it’s not all of me. What people see is authentic, it’s my art, my healing work, and my expression, but it’s also the refined version that’s ready to be shared. The deeper layers, the quiet moments, the doubts and growing pains, those stay sacred.

I think both versions are real; they just live in different spaces. The public me reflects what I’ve already processed, while the private me is still learning, healing, and evolving through it. Together, they make up the full picture of who I am.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I truly believe I’m doing what I was born to do. I had a vision from a young age of who I was meant to be, even when I didn’t know how or if I would ever get there. It wasn’t always this clear, and there were plenty of moments of doubt. It took a lot of refining, risk taking, and trusting God to build the life I have now.

I’m deeply grateful to wake up every day doing work that fulfills me and reflects who I am. I’m proud of the woman I’ve become and how I’ve created this life with intention. There’s still more I want to do, but I’m thankful that I get to move at my own pace and create on my own terms.
