We’re looking forward to introducing you to Robin Berkery. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Robin, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I am 100% a morning person. I joke that sometimes I look forward to going to bed just so I can wake up and enjoy the morning: coffee, prepping for the day, hanging out with my cats, all the things…
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the heart behind Yoga with Robin and Jazzercise Santa Cruz, two spaces dedicated to joyful movement, community, and balance — body and mind.
Through Yoga with Robin, I offer accessible, grounding yoga classes that blend strength, mindfulness, and breath — whether on the mat, the beach, or by the pool. My approach is rooted in connection and presence, inviting students to find calm, clarity, and self-compassion through movement.
As the owner of Jazzercise Santa Cruz, I try to bring that same passion for exercise to a high-energy, music-driven fitness community. Jazzercise is more than a workout — it’s an uplifting, supportive space where people come together to dance, sweat, and feel empowered.
My mission is simple: to help others feel good in their bodies, build confidence, and create community through fitness. I’m continually inspired by the incredible people I get to be with with every day — and I’m currently focused on expanding my outdoor and beach yoga offerings, teaching more Pilates classes, as well as organizing special community events that give back locally.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My parents have been my biggest cheerleaders since day one. Though they pushed me to go to college and get a degree, I also always felt encouraged to follow my dreams. I joke that I have a very expensive college degree for a fitness instructor since I went to a four year university and don’t use my major at all. My mom and dad really only cared about one thing and that was me finding happiness with whatever I chose to do.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Whew, this is a great question. I think so much about this journey through life is the ability to experience the ups and downs and bright days and dark days. These are what shape us and teach us the most. I am so grateful for all that I have been through and wouldn’t change a thing. I’d tell my younger self to enjoy the ride, and most importantly, always listen to that inner voice and guide.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends know how much I love what I do. Though they often encourage me to back off my schedule, take more breaks and rest, and learn the power of saying ‘no’ more often, they realize my passion and support me every step of the way.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
As I mentioned before, I think staying true to yourself and being your own guide is the best thing we can do. By constantly returning to that brain/body connection I feel like we stay true to our purpose and our passions, while knowing what’s best for ourselves. We really do have the answers within us. To summarize: always listen to those instincts.
