Tabatha Trammell of Georgia on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Tabatha Trammell shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Tabatha , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What battle are you avoiding?
I’m avoiding being an abortion doula since it’s a sensitive subject and I go to a church that doesn’t agree with abortion. I got certified so I could meet my clients where they’re at.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tabatha Trammell, the founder of Women with A Plan Ltd.a organization that was birthed when I was in prison , I know firsthand what a woman needs in prison and the support needed when transitioning back into our communities. One of our main focuses are pregnant women and girls that are homeless and live with domestic violence from a intimate partner.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I was told i was stupid and I would never amount to anything for so many years I believed that so I continued to sell and use drugs in a hopeless state of mind . I suffered from low self esteem ,abandonment and trust issues.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I almost gave up when I was pregnant and went to jail 3 weeks after I gave birth I was suffering from postpartum depression and drug withdrawal, at the time I didn’t know about postpartum depression and the officials at the jail just looked at it as drug withdrawal so those mixed feelings and depression episodes which consisted of crying episodes, manic episodes and long periods of sleep and isolation

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version is the same as private version,I live my life out loud and my story to help others which also helps me to heal.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I will like to be known as the rose that grew in concrete, was destined for failure from the beginning but through resilience and prayer and holding myself accountable
