We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr. Lauren Daniels. Check out our conversation below.
Lauren, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me starts off with getting ready for work and walking my dog. I work as a clinical audiologist at a private practice, so I am usually running around the clinic testing hearing and working with hearing aids and cochlear implants during the day. After work, I typically go back home to walk my dog again and play some fetch. I make a yummy, healthy dinner and wind down with a show or puzzle, or a bit of writing for my travel blog.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lauren, aka “Lulu”, and I am the creator of Lulu’s Everyday Life. In high school I was influenced by my parents to create Lulu’s Everyday Life, an instagram where I am able to share my love for travel and photography. After some time, I decided to incorporate my love for writing by turning it into a blog. The blog has continued through my time in high school, college, graduate school, and now through my career. In my free time outside of being a full-time audiologist, I travel as much as possible and practice my photography while sharing my experiences with my readers.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents definitely taught me the most about work. My parents are business owners and have always worked nonstop to support the family. They always stressed the importance of hard work, education, and exploration. As a family, we take yearly vacations across the U.S. to learn about nature, American history, and different lifestyles. While on these somewhat lengthy trips, my parents would often have to take work calls or respond to emails. We were reminded that hard work was the reason we were able to see so many different parts of the country.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell myself that it will all work out. All of the times that I was worried about something small, I should have thought about the fact that we are all just tiny humans living on a massive planet and life is not long enough to stress about the small things.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A project that I am committed to, no matter how long it takes, is actually a travel-related goal. My goal is to visit all 50 U.S. states, all United States National Parks, and all of the continents. As someone who has just finished graduate school and started my career, I know this is a goal that will not be achieved any time soon but I am completely dedicated to reaching this goal eventually.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am with my loved ones. I am genuinely happy when I am surrounded by family and friends. I also feel at peace at the beach. I like to say the beach is my happy place. Sitting on the sand, listening to the waves, and feeling the ocean breeze– that’s my kind of peace.
